435 is a touch and go. The 355 was with a 2 second pause at the bottom which is a cause for loss of power, especially loss of stretch reflex. Just trying to prepare myself if the judges call a long pause at the bottom.
doesnt take much to make you happy, haha.**** TwinlabFuel Representative ****

Worked up to what will be my 2nd attempt at the meet next weekend. 505 felt pretty easy, it flew up. Would have recorded it but there were way too many people to find a good spot. Next, I went to hit 525 and in the midst of picking the weight up, some dingbat decided it would be a good idea to grab weights off the rack and hit the bar which cause the weight to throw forward. I racked it, looked at her and she didnt say a thing. So I lit her up and then she decided to tell me how she is there to lose weight....WTF?!?!... Seriously? You just did something that could have seriously injured me and/or yourself and you tell me that....Made me even more furious.
On a side note, I purchased some Iron Rebel Outlaws wraps and they are amazing. Also, found some flat soled nikes today for $25 that fit amazingly and they will now become designated squat/deadlift shoes.

I always worry that someone is going to bump me when I'm squatting or benching. It's only happened once that I can recall, and fortunately it was during warmups, but you honestly could get very injured if that happened the wrong way.
Today I'll do what others won't, so tomorrow I can do what others can't.

Yeah, its ridiculous. Clearly what I had on was not light, so why even come close enough to maybe hit it?
I dont care how much weight is on, I always make sure not to come close and have the possibility of injuring someone or myself. Ya think this would be common sense...**** TwinlabFuel Representative ****

Well, I participated in my first powerlifting meet yesterday. Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.
So my gym partener and I get there, we see that we are in the last flight of lifters (60 lifters, 4 flights). We start warming up for squats during flight 3. Only to warm up areas so we have to share, not a big deal. We did get kicked off the rack by the strongest lifter there and his roided up cronies. I even said "So I guess we dont get to warm up?" and they just looked at me. And I didnt have time to go jump in the other group, so I ended my warm ups with 315 and opened up with 490. Which went well as youll see in the video, but a 175lb jump blows. Right before me second squat attempt, a judge comes over and tells me that my knee wraps are too long, even though they were checked at the equipment check in. He brings out his measuring tape and says "Theyre over regulation limit at 6.5 feet." LOL WUT?!?... So I say to him, "How is that out of regulations?" To that he replies "They measure over 80 inches." Ok? so it was 6.5 ft now its 80 inches...OK. So I say, "You do know that regulation is 2.5 meters right? Two and a half meters is 97.5 inches and you just measured theses at 96 inches, so how is that out of regulation?"
He just replied "OH" and then walked away. Seriously? This judge is also a top 5 ranked lifter in the US in the 275lb class and he doesnt know regulations???? C'mon man.
So second squat attempt, I hit 520 and got red lighted for unknown reasons, maybe some of you can judge and let me know. But right after my squat, another lifter squatted pretty hight, like several inches high and got all passing lights....
So as you can see, so far it wasnt too pleasent.
Come bench time, I was pretty exhausted, my back started to cramp. I missed my first attempt from racking too early, hit my second attempt and then 3rd attempt I stalled out.
Deadlifts went better than expected and hit 2/3. Last lift of 556 I did hitch so of course that was a no go.
Pretty lackluster performance on my part going 4/9, but I did still place first in the 275 Men's Open, classic raw division. Its something to build off of and improve next time.

i could tell you were a little crunchy yesterday on the phone but now i know why. sorry the experience left a sh*tty taste in your mouth; it definitely sucks when people you expect to help and/or guide you are idiots
i still think your performance and numbers were awesome though, especially for your first learning experience
what now bro?

Sorry to hear that things didn't go so smoothly man. I'm especially surprised to hear about that other lifter being a dick to you...I've read nearly unanimously that guys at meets tend to be among the most helpful out there, so that's pretty much shocking. I'm sure future meets moving forward will be better.
And hey, you still won your division, lol.Today I'll do what others won't, so tomorrow I can do what others can't.
