Who deserved to win is opinion only because the "sport" is so subjective. So of coarse there will be people that think that Shawn deserved an O, doesn't make it the truth though.

Shawn Ray = Best looking physique to ever step on stage imo

I'm kinda with him on this one. I think it would've been good for the sport for Shawn to have won at least once. He may not be quite as big as some of his contemporaries, but he carried the mass like no-one else and sported a midsection that puts every Olympia competitor today to shame!

agree with this... shawn ray's height gave him a disadvantage compared to dorian but the fact that he won with a torn bicep (or so i hear) is rediculous. i mean jay lost to phil with some obvious damage to his arm.
and shawn's round muscle bellies and tie-ins are just awesome.Last edited by tomcardno1; 11-22-2012 at 04:34 PM.

Yes, jay lost with a torn biceps and yates won with a torn biceps. This disparity would be relevant if this was a bicepsbuilding competition. The thing is, you can win with torn biceps, by winning the mandatory poses that don't show that muscle. Jay lost, not because of is biceps, but because he was a much weaker bodybuilder than phil that year.

your trolling and question dodging skills impresses me very little, are you implying that dorian and ronnie are an equal comparison? because ronnie destroyed shawn so much for him to not even consider himself a contender(definition: a person that can win) in ronnie's reign. shawn and the fans can present an arguement for him beating dorian. bringing up the result of the contest is almost irrelevant because this topic is meant to question it...

Yes Dorian is comparable to Ronnie, in fact Dorian has a better track record than Ronnie throughout his Olympia career. Dorian was unbeaten throughout his 6 year domination.
Calm brah. Dorian was a man of few words, but the ones he did/does say are almost always 100% on the mark. Dorian spoke without emotion but with a clear purpose that could only come from a true champion. Dorians no bull**** aproach past and current is legendary in itself. Please try to find the video where Dorian explains how the judging works and if youopen your mind then you will learn about the sport and be more accepting.TEAM WOLF + TEAM KAI +TEAM CEDRIC + TEAM ROMGLE - TEAM RAMY - TEAM FAIR JUDGING

once again almost irrelevant, dorian's "6 year domination" doesn't include the goat bber that is ronnie
in an actual comparison ronnie would beat him in every pose except the ab/thigh and maybe the side tri. this is supported by dorian yates that explains contests are judged by mandatory poses NOT contest track records

I put you in the green just 'cause. However, it is not prudent for myself, you, or anyone in this thread to opine on judging criteria. None of us are judges. Even further, bodybuilding judging at its substantive level is subjective (no duh). There is no schematic (that I know of) to judge people. Sure, you can say size, symmetry, presentation, etc. However, how do you quantify it? You cannot.

As I was saying no one has the balls to contest Ronnie's victories, but they do the same thing with Dorian using the same arguments of a more complete/conditioned smaller bodybuilder against a bigger guy. Going by this logic then the winner of the 202 division Flex or Henry could fight in equal terms with Phil or Kai and even beat them. No one is stupid enough to say this.
Plus no one can explain why there have to be weight divisions in bbing since size doesn't matter in their opinion.

I think height should be completely disregarded on a bodybuilding stage !
I mean height is so detrimental to how your bodybuilding career will go that they have to create a different show where the athletes are winning less than 10 % of the main shows prize money !
Are they putting in less effort than any other pro ?
I mean i dont know about you guys but David Henry was one my favourite physiques from this year.
Also what i would give to look like Shawn in that vid!I Discovered A Meal Between Breakfast And Brunch

FFS....Did you even watch the video?
He said right now in 1996
Ronnie didn't even exist, figuratively speaking, in 1996
And lol at because the judges giving a title thinking that means someone won fair and square.....jesus christ olympia has several examples where only a moron could argue the winner deserved the win.....1981, 2007 a couple of themEveryday is a lesson. Listen.

What 'same' argument? There is no 'same' argument involving Ronnie.
You can't use the "He's smaller but more proportionate and complete than the bigger guy" because it's not true. Ronnie was bigger AND more complete/proportionate than Shawn.
And you couldn't compare Flex or DH to Phil and Kai for the very same reasons.
Flex and DH are both great bodybuilders, but both have some pretty big flaws in their physiques. Phil and Kai have virtually none. They are bigger AND more complete.Bench: 215x12 (17/12/2011) PR since torn RC

Couldn't disagree more. The only flaw in proportion that you can point in shawns physique is his delts. They were a bit underdevelopded considering the rest of his body, but it was a minor issue.
On the other hand you can point to ronnies calves and tris.
The difference is not great but ronnie surely isn't more proportionate than shawn.
