In a couple weeks i start my first week of varsity football and im not sure what position i should go out for, either be a lineman or linebacker.Last year on my final on jv i weigh 228 and now i weigh 217.Ive also increased in speed and stamina.I did a little bit of lifting but not alot because in my opinion cardio is everything.Last year i was alot bigger and i looked like a lineman but now in my eyes i dont know if im lineman size anymore.I know most people might say talk to your coach but hes not the motivating type and he plays favorite(honestly). and at my school the linebackers are very big and the lineman are huge, not muscle huge(some are, maybe like 1 or 2)but there all fat.Im 5'10 , 217 pounds and id say that im more muscle than fat. What do you think i should go out for, because i never played linebacker before so i wanna study alittle.Ive played lineman all my life also. And before you reply could u please look at my photos on my dashboard and tell me what position i should play, and could also watch the video that i have on there of the team i play for just to get an idea of the offense and defense

Good sized linebacker, preferred would be a tad taller, but wouldn't every position? I'd say starting lifting weights, get strong as hell, and then you'd be a killer linebacker. However, defensive line is still fun as hell. <3 dem trenches. Always can use fast people, but being strong helps a **** ton with football.

I got moved from LB/FB to DE/Guard my senior year so just do whatever the coaches want u to play. I think of it as, as long as your getting on the field it doesnt matter what you play. I was starting at both FB/LB before i switched so its not like i was a total scrub getting moved

To be a linebacker, you should be both strong af and have a high level of cardio. But like, you need to have a bunch of whole body strength to be a linebacker.

"Cardio is everything"
Idk, maybe you should be in cross-country?
Seriously though, if you don't lift weights and you're 5'10" 217, you're probably pretty fat. So I'd say lineman, or wherever the coach puts you.You can't force knowledge into a dumbass any more than you can force sight into a blind man.
