How long before your workout do you eat/drink whatever it is that you eat/drink?
I have a whey shake and sometimes a piece of fruit about 1-2 hours before workout so I get the energy from it while not working on a full stomach
I also have a coffee or a caffeine pill. What about other people?

I always make sure to fuel properly before and after workouts. I eat around an hour before I workout; a whole protein source (chicken/tuna/eggwhites,) along with some complex carbs like brown rice/yams, and then a little bit of fibrous veggies. I stay hydrated the entire time, and sip on BCAA's during/afterwards.
Its best to eat around an hour before training if you are having whole food; gives your body time to digest and break down the nutrients and prepare for battle! If you are having a protein shake, I'd recommend going maybe 20-30mins before you work out.ANS Performance Brand Developement Mgr & Athlete

let workout at 10am today and right now I just made...
2 servings oats
Take out of microwave and add...
2 scoops protein powder
1 cut up banana
cool whip on top
Rough Breakdown:
Calories 650ish
Fat: less than 5 grams
Carbs: 85ish grams
Protein: 55ish
I put all that in the fridge about 20 minutes and it's like a dessert. I will eat that about 9am and start doing my 10 minute walk on tredmill before hitting legs at 10am.
and before we get sidetracked and anyone says anything I love fat and eat a ton of fat and understand the value of eating fat. Today is a an excessively high carb day and the one day of the week my fat gets cut down.

when it's a weekday and I train at 5pm and it's a normal moderate carb day during my diet I will eat...
1.5 servings oats
2 scoops protein
1 serving almond oil
fat: 15ish grams
Protein: 50ish grams
Carbs: 45 grams
put all in shaker cup and drink. I take that down around 45ish minutes before working out.

A lot of it depends on your overall goal of either weight gain or loss. I have a relatively high metabolism so I tend to keep my calorie and carb intake pretty high. I also know that the 2 hours that I spend at the gym is 2 hours that I will not be getting much needed calories. That being said, I try to get a pretty high carb meal (50 to 75 grams) with at least 30 grams of protein about an hour and a half before my workout. Following my workout, I load up on protein (40 to 55 grams) with about 50 to 60 grams of carbs. Everyone is a bit different, but this strategy has worked pretty good for me!

During the week I have to wake up at 4 and immediately go to the gym, or else I won't be able to workout due to work/family obligations. This doesn't leave adequate time for me to really eat what I would if I had more time and I hate working out with a stomach full of food that is digesting as I workout, so when I wake up I usually will actually use an intra product like Xtend, along with a caffeine pill to get me going, and by the time I am at the gym, it has begun working, and my stomach doesn't feel too full.
