I got 1569 this past weekend, with at least 20lbs left on the platform (WAY underestimated 3rd bench attempt ). Ran 5/3/1 since the end of July for this meet and saw decent gains.
Gonna be running normal 5/3/1 starting next week, then maybe transition to 5/3/1 for PL once I get a couple of months out from whenever my next meet will be. Might get a little Westside-ish with my bench though since I'm starting to feel like I need to hit it twice a week.Celer, Silens, Mortalis - - - - - Meet Lifts: 584/385/600 @ 229 - - - - - Gym Lifts: 600/405/605

I've seen and heard a lot about the Cube method these last few weeks, but I haven't really read too much into it yet. This video kind of sparked my interest though:

Well, he said a key thing, "Train for yourself." Those that utilize the westside methods can train for themselves and the point of the methods is to alter it to your needs and weaknesses which is exactly what Brandon has done and is calling it the Cube. He's using a three week split of ME, DE, and RE rotations. Nothing entirely new there. It should be a good program to those that have issue with recovery doing the typical 1 week split. You can modify things in between those two extremes as well. I'll be buying the book when it comes out here shortly just because I like reading this chit.

lol. I hope he does good and sells a ton of it. This would compete directly with 5/3/1 and just wait for the slew of threads asking stupid crap that's easily found online or in the book. But this will be heads above better then 5/3/1 IMO. I do agree with many things like needing to work more assistance RE bodybuilding type stuff, and not chasing singles all the time and for those triples or more, and limiting bands and chains. I tend to use bar weight on max effort days save a few lifts using reverse band though I have gotten good results going against bands in dynamic effort work.

I've been running my own interpretation of it for the past 5-6 weeks and I like it. The book comes out next Tuesday and I plan on buying it so I can set it up properly. I've pieced together a training cycle from what other people have logged.
I like his ideas. He definitely borrows some concepts from westside, but his speed work isn't the traditional box squats + bands or chains. Most of the stuff is straight weight, free squats. The simple approach reminds me a lot of Wendler's ideas. You don't need machines to get strong, you don't need bands or chains, most people can't box squat properly, and reps build maximum strength too. It's nothing ground breaking, but it's a refreshing thing to hear coming from such a strong lifter.
I think he got jumped by AJ Roberts earlier today because everyone assumes he's putting down westside, louie, the conjugate method, etc when he's just saying there are simpler ways to get strong.
I'm a big fan of Brandon and I look forward to reading the book and starting meet prep with the Cube Method.

He put out a video the other day about why he doesn't lift against bands any more but he will use reverse bands. Kind of cool concepts behind it. Again it's gonna vary from person to person, but he did at least explain why it didn't work for him and why he feels the way he does about them.

I don't do AMRAP the whole time, I just go by feel. Pretty much like what Wendler said in his book(s). If you feel good and want to go balls out, do it. Otherwise, Just do a few extra reps or even just the required reps.
The reason why I'm going to run regular 5/3/1 after this last meet is because it starts me off light which I feel will be good to ease me back into heavy sht. Plus it has always worked for me.Celer, Silens, Mortalis - - - - - Meet Lifts: 584/385/600 @ 229 - - - - - Gym Lifts: 600/405/605

Interested in this cube method now. I hope he comes out with a paperback book. I'm old fashioned and hate e-books.

Too much cali talk. You fukkers should be talking about moving to CO. Then we can all have a big PL Fam shoot and blow up stuff in the woods. Can't do that kinda thing in cali. Not to mention the world class ski resorts here.

Probably not bro. I just print mine out at work. I sit next to the print center guy so we have a heavy duty stapler and some black tape stuff that you use to bind the booklets. So I've got a few legit looking ebooks or you can always hole punch and put em in a binder. I hate reading on the computer.
I have no chest whatsoever, mixed with weight gain. They aren't huge or anything but they're kind of tit like.
I've drawn the line at 40 bucks. It's one thing if you're putting out a hard copy but paying more than 20 bucks for an ebook is bullsh** in my opinion. I was dumb enough to do it for CBL, but I did learn a thing or two I guess.

Boxes, Bands and chains have never made a methodology. He's still using the Westside methods just not what they actually are doing Westside and neither does most everyone else since we don't actually train there. I actually think the cube method is harder to track then straight up 2 DE days and 2 ME days a week. Couldn't be easier. People make things so much harder then they should be. But I do see value in his approach to help recovery if that's an issue or if you wanted to focus on growing muscle.
