Managing a Type 3 Acromion (pain)?

I have a type 3 acromion in my left shoulder. It hurts to do any chest exercises and some shoulder exercises.

Has anyone else who has dealt with this been able to get the pain away and do bench press, shoulder press, etc. again?

Ive had an MRI done and its not a tear or anything.

It'll likely be hard to manage something like this. Have you thought of getting it shaved down? Rehab would be short.

Yeah Im going to do that, but it will be a few months before I can get that done (possibly half a year) so I was just seeing if other people have gotten over the pain or worked through it or whatnot.

I decided to give it a shot and did a chest workout today. SUCCESSFUL

I paid ridiculously close attention to form (which is a good thing anyway)

I did sets working up to the final 3rd set of the below weight:
    -Pec-Dec - 8 reps 55 lbs
    -Iso-Bench press - 10 reps 33 lbs
    -Iso-Incline press - 10 reps 33 lbs
-Laying down dumbbell press - 10 reps - 18 lbs

the weight isnt a bunch bunch there wasnt really any pain!

How old are you? I've always thought acromions changed throughout life, and the hooked ones being rare when younger.

I am 25. Yeah I know that it will change over time and is much more common going into your 40s and 50s I believe.

    Whats going on man
So I myself have . . or should say HAD a type 3 acromion until just recently I had open surgery to have the tip of the bone cut off. Heres a little back ground . . . So for four years I delt with pain in my right should. Mine mostly came from side latteral raises however I did get when going heavy with chest. After years of doctors telling me it was bursitis and getting cortison shots to relieve the pain(which did nothing by the way) i saw a sports specialist who told me that my type 3 acromion was to blame, causing constant irratation to the rotator cuff and bursa. Now at 23 years old he said that its more common for older men to have this issue , but being a avid bodybuilder like myself , he said that it makes sense to have this pain and that this surgery would solve the problem. You should know that they can do this procedure orthoscopicly without making an open cut , and the recovery is much quicker. I opted for the open only because my doctor told me he could garentee near perfect results with open since he could see better. Its now been just over 3 months since the surgery and after about 2 months of physical therapy im feeling pretty good and have just about full range of motion back. Ive started back with 7lbs dumbbells and so far things feel good. A little pain here and there but Its easy to see im getting better not worse. All in all man your not alone and I delt with the pain for years. Dont waste time , if you can afford to be down and out for a bit DO THE SURGERY! Ill keep you posted bigman ,

The body-numbing weights and insane workout regimes have left you hunched over the garbage can prying to the weight gods."
