ive had enough of cashman and his awful GMing
this trade sucks
essentially we give up phelps and greene and in replacement is capuano and eovaldi. dont sign brandon mccarthy. jesus christ
tanaka
pineda
cc
eovaldi
capuano
red sox rotation might be better at this point
the one thing i like about this trade though is refsnyder is getting his shot ( as of now)

I actually like the Eovaldi trade. I remember watching him in ST a few years back with the Dodgers. He has some nice life/movement and speed on his pitches. He's a young guy (24). I think he has some awesome potential.
I agree more needs to be done but I have no problem with the trades/signings so far. Let's see what else he can piece together before throwing him under the bus.

They spent half a billon dollars last season. You want them to go out and spend another half a billion? Or how about trading away some of the nice young talent we finally have?
Yankees have some old long term contracts that have hurt them over the years. Let's be real Jeter has been a liability for the past few seasons. We are finally moving on from him and Arod(hopefully). Have some nice young Arms Tanaka, Pineda, Eovaldi, Severino, Banuelo's and noe German who we also got in the trade. Plus some good hitters in the minors.
I like where the team is heading and think Cashman has done a better job the last few seasons of setting this team up for now and the future.
EDIT: Also I don't believe McCarthys half season performance with the Yankees last year justified his price. He has always just been average and was terrible before coming to the Yankees. I really don't think letting him go was a that bad.Last edited by saaltydog; 12-19-2014 at 01:04 PM.

(ive been busy I know it's been a while since this thread has been updated)
I dunno if it's Cashman or one of the Steinbrenners but some of these trades have blown my mind... Yea "we believe Prado gives us the depth to do X,Y,Z" traded a week later.... basically saying "we aren't gonna spend like last year" and give Headly and ABSURD amount of $$... WTF, I know there isn't a salary cap, but FFS I'm sure there was a better choice than him for that $.... Some trades have been ok... It seems like their trying to go in a fcked up "moneyball" direction this off season....***New Beginning***

I agree somewhat with what you said. I think the headley signing occurd because of the lack of internal options at 3rd. Arod is a permanent DH. Leaving a gaping hole at 3rd. Plus Headley is solid at defense and produced nicely with his time with the Yankees.
I also think they are moving towards a more hybrid moneyball approach. Times have changed. They have gotten burnton a lot of long term contracts. Plus teams are locking up young talent to long term contracts. Let's remember the Yankees were good for all those years in the 90's and early 2000's because of homegrown talent. Over the past 10 years theyve produced almost nothing of value from the farm system. They are in a transition period. I personally like where they are heading. We will see how it plays out.
On another note why the **** would they trade Manny for Carpenter? Makes zero sense. Just a few years ago he was a top prospect.
EDIT: I'm praying Moncada gets cleared to sign with an MLB team. He's a must sign for the Yankees. Talent like his doesn't come around often.Last edited by saaltydog; 01-01-2015 at 05:12 PM.

Moncada had a private workout with the Yankee. Come on don't **** this up.
Also rumors are Strasburg is very much available. Wouldn't mind parting with some prospects for him. He's a young/cheap ace. Although he would probably cost a fortune and its unlikely to happen.
I'd prefer to get Gio Gonzalez. Wouldn't cost anywhere near as much in terms of prospects and has a great team friendly contract. He's perfect for Yankee stadium.Last edited by saaltydog; 01-20-2015 at 10:39 AM.

Interesting read in the Yankees farm system. Things are looking up for us the next few years.

Yankees are bake????
Ellsbury/Gardner have been awesome. Tex has had a good month. Arod doing arod things. McCann looks good so far. Starting staff has done awesome besides some CC starts. Bullpen has been amazing with Betances/Miller being shutdown.
Downsides have been Beltran and then Tanaka's injury. No idea what to think of Tanaka's future atm but I hope it gets figured out.
Hoping DiDi continues to get better at the plate. I truly believe we can take this division, but it all depends on avoiding injuries.
