Waste of money. The pivot action is nice but if you have steps in your house, you have a calf block

on second thought, i like the pivoting idea!
it would provide more stretch and a greater ROM!

should be able to make one using wood and a threaded rod...

If you are going to do the pivot thing, I would place pegs to limit the angle so you don't dump yourself off it. I also would consider angle iron to brace the wood in the pivot areas. Wood has a tendency to split when twisted under pressure.

Let's see some pictures when you get it done.

    both good points!
with further thought, i might be able to find a piece of metal for the platform and us 4x4s for the end pieces...

sandpaper is OK, but you would probably get as good of a grip and much better life using skateboard deck sheet, it's designed for grip and decent life, and it's big enough for two uses

If you want the best range of motion, use a rounded block

Home Depot sells 3M grip tape(in the paint dept), like you'd put on stairs. I bought a roll for my leg press, I think it was $10 for 30 feet.

I think all of you are missing the point. You can make just about anything out there if you have the right material and tools, but there are people out there that are too lazy to build this and will buy it. This guy thought of something that works and trying to sell it. Hell, look at Body By Jake garbage. You can build just about all of that stuff as well. Stop bashing what someone else had the initiative to go out and market and just build the thing if you want one.

The best calf block I've ever seen was the double sided one from body solid (no longer made)
had a rounded side for calf raises and a small wedge block for squats on the other side. Best ROM I have ever tried. But it was $100 and obviously did not sell.
I am guessing a lot of people do not use much weight for calf raises, like on stairs, which is fine. But for 500lb calf raises, nothing supports like steel.

****, here it is for $52 at Sams

I am guessing a lot of people do not use much weight for calf raises, like on stairs, which is fine. But for 500lb calf raises, nothing supports like steel.

****, here it is for $52 at Sams

I'm looking for a good quality calf block myself.

This is probably a bad question, but how does the rounded side give better ROM?
