100 meter time to 40 yard dash time

I have a teammate who runs the 100 meters in 12.01 seconds. We don't do 40 times here so I'm wondering does anyone know about what he runs?
So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and finally, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.

Currently racing Wegzyzz,Da_Jtac_0, and Demons24 to 300 lb bench

It depends. Some people reach their top speed quickly, some don't.

His 40 time could be 5 seconds for the first 40 yards, or it could be 4.3 (or less) for another section of 40 yards somewhere in between. Since this is the case, you can't just do a mathematical extrapolation.

How fast does he run the first 36.5ish meters? There's your answer.

. If he runs a 12.01 and I must tell you that's not fast at all, his 40 time won't be very fast.

Like Paskicker said, does he get up to speed fast? Its all dependent, some sprinters hit top speed late and maintain. I ran a 4.4 at the scout day when they showed up for the football team but ran 10.7 in the 100m. I dont hit top speed til about 45-50m in. Comparing 100m to 40yrd dash is difficult. You wont really know unless you step on the field and run a legit 40 yard dash.

If he runs a 12.01 then that means he is covering about 8.33 meters ever second, if you look at absolutes then that means he runs approximatly 4.801.

But that doesnt include start, acceleration, top speed, etc...

There are alot of factors involved
