go for a different cert. i have a bad issa trainer thing too (like you have w/ your friend). there's one issa trainer at my gym. a guy was trying to put on size and he told him to do lighter weights, higher reps. he told me he was on hydroxycut for a while b/c he figured some of his clientele would ask him abt it and he wanted firsthand knowledge. AND he lifts in a sweatshirt b/c then he'll sweat more and burn more fat. plus, any cert that you can do 100% online is totally suspect to me.

There is so much bro-science out there now that it's frightening. Look up "suits to make you sweat" or any combo of that on google or bing and there are tons of articles about it. Some on LiveStrong and EHow (2 sites I always kind of liked). My eyes almost popped when I saw how many there were! and yes, it's a slow day in the office so I was looking for a pic to post but got side tracked with all the new suits and the amazing things they can do for us.
I've heard the NASM cert is a good one to have.

Speaking of sweating off the fat, a friend sent me this article last week:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/29/fa...ures.html?_r=1
I'll admit I myself am going to start doing hot yoga just b/c I am finding that using the sauna at the gym *really* helps loosen me up and I think regularly doing heated yoga will help with my tightness, but the fact that people are pushing for cardio classes in 100+ degree rooms because they think sweating more = getting in better shape is just a head-->desk moment."Eat some oatmeal, do some squats, how hard is that seriously."--Prof Ham

2 of the girls I work with have bought the long shorts to wear under their gym clothes because they think it makes them lose weight faster. They said they are soaking wet when they take them off. If I had something that thick compressed to my leg I would sweat like a beast too! I think they are Curves brand sold through Avon. They have a big belt that wraps around your waist too!

I love saunas. My gym doesn't have one but once in a while we go on vacation to this one resort and they have them (I'll be there for Easter, can't wait for that!! ) I tried yoga once but I'm way more bull than China shop and I just wasn't garcefull enoiugh to move from one pose to another so I didn't finish the class. There is this one town by me that does naked yoga! YUUUUK!!!! Sorry, there are just some things in this world that I **NEVER** need to see.

Apparently someone went off their meds or something. It got way out of hand and it was not good and when everyone attempted to get back on topic all hell broke loose. I got a neg for it because I was found to have posted a bitchy reply to said individual. This morning he/she/it was green then after calling most everyone in their a not so nice name, she/he/it was in the red!

i'vw heard it's kind of the gold standard and accepted anywhere. it's the cert my gym tries to get its trainers to have. maybe they forgot what they read or couldn't apply it or...???
i posted that on my fb since i couldn't handle a blog, my fb is 1/2 my sh*t and 1/2 nutrition or fitness articles.
looks like i'm missing yet another good one. will have to check it out.
just like you can't argue w/ it (you don't want to know where i heard that quote! sentiment is true, though)

Oh, yeah, my friend with the Shakeology cleanse just posted on ******** how 300 calories from a dirty slice of pizza will not look the same on your body as 300 calories from brown rice, chicken and vegetables. Oh, yeah? I'm eating chocolate chips, sushsi with white rice(the horror!!!!!), and various other things - never looked better.
She can keep eating her 1500 calories a day and her stupid Shakeology. Whatever. I was going to comment but I'm just tired of wasting my time with her. LOLDanielle xoxo

I have learned preaching to people who don't want to hear it is useless! Dirty pizza? LOL! I had one friend who would starve herself during the day and drink her "allowed" calories in beer that evening. Liquid diet at it's best ya think??? I didn't even know how to respond to that one

love it. more and more common nowadays, for some reason.
haven't seen this one in a while, but we used to get it a lot. when people ask for tips on getting motivated. note: that's different than needing help after falling off the wagon for personal reasons or just being in a slump (maybe b/c you've plateaued or whatever) or something and wondering where to start again. finding support and getting re-motivated. but "tips" for motivation? it's a choice. you either want it or you don't, and it's fine if you don't or if other things take priority.
does she know what you eat/what your diet is like? what does she say abt it? cuz obviously you look killer, so how does she explain that w/ you eating some "dirty" food? i dare you to post research disproving her/proving your point on her fb!

You're right - I should do that! My food diary is public on MyFitnessPal. When I talked to her about her 1300 calories one day and told her she needs to eat more, I did mention that she should look at my diary. Whether she has or not, I don't know. But I'm sure if she did look at it, she'd say something about how I'm bulking and she's trying to lose, and also about how she KNOWS she can't eat sugar or too many carbs because she blimps up and gains a ton of weight because she's "carb senstive." We all know it's probably just water from extra carbs when she does happen to eat more carbs one day, and not fat.
She just posted some other BS about some other 21-day cleanse she's going to do. I skimmed over it - I just can't take it anymore LOL What I saw briefly was that you will eat on this cleanse, but only specific foods to clean your body out of toxins. Massive facepalming LOLDanielle xoxo

or, my gf is trying to lose a little bit of weight. she's 5'5", 92 lbs. how many cals should she eat?
sounds like she's bull****ting herself or others into thinking she's doing "good" and cleansing herself of toxins when really it's yet another weight loss strategy. i told you the fm at my gym does juice cleanses, right? one of the trainers (the issa one!) is so up her ass that he did the mo long one w/ her. most of hers now are 4 days. lame nonetheless.
is her profile public?? if so, pm me her name. i so wanna get in on this. not comment, obviously, but just want to fb stalk and add some much needed entertainment to my day. i have misinformed friends - like the one who swears by paleo to lose weight - but none who make posts abt this stuff.
