I very very poorly timed myself sophomore year at like 5'11 142 i ran a 4.9-5.1. But i've played 3yrs of football and have been lifting outside of football for 2 years since then so no idea what it is anymore. probably 4.6-4.8 range. Plan on hitting 4.4 by this next new years

Ive never actually ran a 40...but I can guesstimate based on my 60m time. 60m time = 7.86s. 40yd time = 4.79s. Obviously not very accurate, but it will do for now. I wanna run a real 40 now.

Ran a 4.8 40 yard dash spring 2010.
Then ran a 3.9s 30 meter dash in the fal of 2010, which is about 33 yards. and also a 4.82s 40 meter dash(44 yards)
Which would bring me to about a 4.6s 40 yard dashCorrelation does not imply causation. The Plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".

4.4 40
But I also ran track in college, ran a 10.8 100m. I actually had fairly slow starts for a sprinter, with a really fast top speed, so my 40 time should have been faster. But I guess that's what its for, your 0-max acceleration.Austin Texas Crew

Fully Automatic Times
The reaction times of the coaches and trainers using stopwatches to time the 40 yard dash mean that most numbers are way off. If you want to know your time in the 40 yard dash, you need to use a fully automatic timer. Freelap has a Football Combine kit for timing the 40 yard dash. You can order it online at http://www.freelaptrackandfield.com/...ll-combine.php
What you measure, you improve.
Best,
Christopher

Freelap Football Combine Kit
Here are photos of the Freelap Combine Kit and the touch-and-release starter module. This fully automatic timing system will provide the accuracy you need so that you can monitor the improvements in your training program. What you measure, you improve. Improving your 40 yard dash by 0.20 seconds can mean the difference between a career on the field and a career on the couch.
