The best way to use a vinyl reducing suit?

    Don't!!!

All they do is trap heat and sweat. If you lose any extra weight when using it, which is highly unlikely, it will be water weight not fat replaced as soon as you rehydrate. These are known for causing heat related stress on the body up to and including heart attacks. Basically a bad idea.

^^^^^This. Vinly suits are a terrible idea, for many reasons.

Though widely used, they have been shown to actually do little. You will sweat more and expend more energy maybe even lose a little weight. Bodybuilders do not use them yet can still cut body fat very low. Endurance people like boxers some use them. Can be dangerous too your body overheats or dehydrates unless you are stopping to take fluids not good.

Have any of you guys ever competed in a sport where you had to shed a dozen pounds of mostly water weight in about 2 days? If not, don't bash sweat suits. They are extremely useful for their intended purpose, and can be fairly safe if used intelligently. This has nothing to do with long-term weight loss or cutting fat for a show (which hopefully the OP understands).

The OP is 44. I doubt he is trying out for the high school wrestling team.

If you have ever had to shed a dozen pounds in a couple of weeks for any reason including high school wrestling, you are a fool. It isn't worth your health to try and compete in a lower class. Also going in dehydrated means you are also costing yourself strength and energy when you need it most, in the ring.

On the Ultimate Fighter season, some of the fighters had to wear those in a sauna and it looked horrific to watch them go through it. It alsmost made throw up actually just thinking about it.
But yeah, I agree. No need for it unless you're a professional athlete.

Most fighters need to shed 2 to 3 gallons to make weight for a fight,or between 15 and 25lbs.Without a suit it's almost impossible, but I wouldn't really recommend it for anything else.

It is always a good idea to actually read a post and then spend 8-10 seconds thinking about it before responding, the OP said nothing about why he wanted to use a sweat suit so it is not safe to just assume that he wants to "intelligently" use it to lose a few pounds. I am sure that you have heard that sweat suits can cause death. People post here in the OVER 35 section to get answers that were actually thought about. Give it a try.
    1) This isn't the "over 35" section..
    2) I didn't notice that the OP is 44, as this pretty much rules out any chance of him being a wrestler/mma fighter.
    3) I really only responded because I was annoyed at how quick people were to condemn losing water weight by using plastics because they seemed to be looking at it from a bodybuilding point of view.

The most I ever cut sweat-wise was ~6lbs , although I never used plastics, just several layers of winter clothing. But who are you to determine if someone's goals are worth the risk? One of my best friends used plastics in high school and did a lot of stuff that was probably unhealthy...but it got him a D1 NCAA wrestling scholarship for his troubles. So who is to judge?

However, I will agree that the OP is probably a fool for doing this at his age just to get in shape.
