What are "Other Carbs" on a food label??

I can't believe it has taken me until now to notice this. I was eating a bowl of "Honey Bunches of Oats" Cereal and looked at the label. It listed Carbs as 25 grams. Sugars are 6 grams, Fiber is 2 grams, Other carbs are 17 grams. What are these "other carbs"? Sugars have big impact on blood sugars while Fiber has little impact. Are these "Other Carbs" like a sugar or a fiber or somewhere in between?

If you add the 17 + 2 + 6= 25...so it is 17 grams of sugar....2 grams of fiber and 6 grams of non sugar carbs...whatever that is.( ok that was a guess but am I right?)

In this case, mostly processed wheat and corn. That serial is mostly corn, wheat, and sugar (malted barley and corn and related sweeteners), the oats are mainly on the label. Details are on the Kraft Foods web site.

Under "All carbs are not created equal", they explain the "other carbs".

It's the old notion that carbs are either sugars or starches, and only sugars are bad. But if you are counting carbs, then the carbs in say, white bread, while they might not be sugar, are not what you need either.

I'd say subtract fibre, and count all the rest of the carbs. And avoid anything with sugar alcohols, unless you have a bad case of constipitation and need to spend a lot of time in the bog.
    65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs = keto.

Breakfast cereals are one food I try to avoid at all cost.
Sure, you can eat them, but I would rather use my calories for better food.
I consider those cereals to be a "filler food".

The "other carbs" are, at least by definition, complex carbs. Keep in mind that complex does not mean low-glycemic. A white potato is virtually all complex carbs, but it has a pretty high glycemic index.
