    Christmas treats

    Anyone else looking forward to a cheat day Christmas Day? Happy Christmas by the way way everyone! I keep saying I'm going to eat and drink anything I want Christmas Day and Boxing Day but really? I don't see myself being so reckless lol! Yes I am going to treat myself to a nice cake or pudding or something but I had thought about making two home made protein cakes into a Victoria sponge! I am definitely going to use a normal size plate instead of a side plate for my main meal but mmm.... I promised my hubby I wouldn't weigh or track my food those days - I think I still will - what's everyone's Christmassy thoughts on this subject?!
    Sometimes I feel like giving up....

    Then I remember I have a lot of mother****ers to prove wrong!

    why do you feel that you must stuff yourself with food just because you 'can'? eat until you're sated. then stop.

    what difference do you think making a high protein victoria sponge will make anyway? are you going to feed it to others as well so they can 'diet' with you? eat more turkey if you worry your muscles will fall off in two days.

    Typically I watch everything I eat as well. I've decided not to track anything on Christmas. If I want it, I'm eating it. Of course I'm going to listen to my body tell me when it's hungry or full but nothing is off limits. Christmas only comes once a year. Furthermore, how much damage could we possiibly do in one day?!? :-)

    ya. it gets my goat when people are so caught up in the 'diet' mindset that they wonder and make threads about whether they should eat a ton because it's a wonderful opportunity to 'cheat' and contemplate making friggin high protein chistmas cakes and pulling out the digital scale in the midst of it all and ruining the mood for everyone.

    I generally don't have too much trouble with Christmas day. I enjoy the day and don't count calories but also try to show some restraint. I'm not going to eat just to eat or because it is there. I'm still going to make choices.. Do I want the pumpkin pie or a few cookies for dessert? (there is no question that I'm having dessert though ;-) ) The real challenge for me is the season in general. There are so many parties and people are bring so many treats into work each day that it is easy for all of those to add up over the course of the month if I'm not careful. So I'm making sure that I eat a good healthy breakfast and have some healthy snacks in my desk drawers these days in particular.

    Yeah, Christmas day is the easy one. Enjoy a little bit of everything and have a good day.


    However it seems like since mid-November everybody at work has been bringing in Christmas goodies. Do you people have no hobbies except baking?

    I'm not going to beat myself up over the odd butter tart, and I realize nobody's shoving them down my throat, but sometimes it comes close.

    I have treats everyday and Christmas is no different than any other day for me. My caloric allotment is pretty high so I can get in everything I need and have plenty of room left for some tasty junk.
    On a mini-cut, then onto maintenance mode for the summer.

    All the food is going to be homemade so on that day not a single thing will be tracked. I'll enjoy some turkey with a side of ham, bout half a dozen deviled eggs, mashed potatoes w/ dat gravy, Xmas cookies, and pie if there's pumpkin. I'll throw in a protein shake somewhere in there and call it a day, not trying to poke anyone's penguin though. Would not bring my food scale to family Christmas dinner lol, they're already concerned enough about my creatine usage, srs.

    Christmas only happens once a year, enjoy yourself and eat/drink what you like : ) If you promised you wouldn't weigh your food maybe you shouldnt ; ) You can cardio off your butt later..thats my plan!

    It's funny how when I don't post here for a while and then come back how I'm slapped in the face with how weird/disordered this place can be...like using a normal sized plate is something you do on a holiday...like making a sponge cake a protein one...

    My eyes crossed when I read about the normal side plate as opposed to a side plate. I've seen it recommended to do that to watch portion size, but seriously? You have to promise your spouse you'll use a normal size plate? Is this real life? Sometimes when I think I've heard/read it all.....

    It's ONE DAY. Enjoy it. Stay off the scale for a couple days until you drop the water you'll be retaining from extra carbs/calories. Simple.

    What's so freaking different about xmas?! If you don't want the candy DON'T eat it!

    Beef, veg, gravy and fruit pudding and custard DEFINITELY fits my macros.

    8oz Roast Beef (that's a LOT of meat) = 407cals (10gfat, 75g protein)
    5oz Oven Roast Potato - that's a lot! = 150cals (7g fat, 20g carbs)
    1 carrot cooked = 16cals
    5oz cooked broccoli = 30cals
    50ml gravy (British) = 15cals

    5oz Christmas pudding = 295cals
    Half tin Ambrosia full fat and sugar custard = 585cals (I love custard)

    Total: 1561cals and they are generous portions! I wouldn't manage pudding after 8oz of beef!! And who needs dinner after such a big lunch?

    my italian family does the feast of seven fishes on christmas eve, so i am planning to fill my plate with the baked/steamed fish dishes, and will do my best to skip over the fried shrimp and whatnot. you better believe i am hitting the cookie tray, though!

    Aw, I remember this growing up...I'm 1/2 Italian, myself.

    To OP...I am treating myself to some homemade pecan crescent cookies. A very small batch. It's just a day, so indulge a bit. If a day turns into a week food orgy, that's a different story. lol Happy holidays!

    I'll go for a run early in the morning and then eat as much or as little as I am hungry for (much like usual then...). My family appreciate that we can share a meal, it's a rare occasion and I don't feel the need to be selfish enough to prioritise one day's food choices over a family event. I won't stuff myself silly because nobody enjoys that, but I seriously could hardly care less if my macros are sh*tty for one day.
