    Stuck at 225-232 for the past 2 months. Finally got thyroid test and overall blood test. Results come in tomorrow or Friday. Hope all is well.

    Anyone knows what happens if I do have a thyroid problem?

    Yup. Depends, though. In my case, I had lower thyroid levels but that was because I was cutting too low and had really low sodium levels.

    Upped both and thyroid levels came back to normal. If your doctor is any good, they will insist on multiple tests spaced out over time before putting you on a lifetime of meds.

    Well I don't want to get like beaten up in practice, but I need to do something to improve my self defense skills right and just lifting weights and jumping rope isn't going to cut it. :P

    I feel like snacking tonight after I get back from the gym. Any suggestions that are not too high in calories? I haven't even started my cutting diet yet, but I really need to.

    That's the best way to learn to be honest...your self defense skills will mean nothing if you've never actually used them to defend yourself. It's a lot different to practice defending against imaginary punches than it is to train yourself to respond quickly or suffer the consequences of an improper block. I actually fight better after I get punched in the face a couple times...gets my adrenaline going and I get super aggressive since I'm pissed. If someone went to attack you in the street, they usually already have their adrenaline going, while yours does not start until they touch you. So they have the upper hand. Don't be scared to get roughed up, it will benefit you greatly to learn how to flick that switch and go into fight mode. If you're not going to spar / take real strikes, anything you're doing is pretty much only serving a fitness purpose and you're not doing much in the way of truly learning self defense.

    That's true, but I was thinking of training my skills/reflexes first, and only after I get decent at those start sparring, you know what I mean? Like I want to build it up as my level increases, and not get beaten up as a newbie.

    Ah man I still remember that dude walking on my stomach though and it hurt so much the second time (didn't hurt the first time, while I was in a crunch, and wasn't expecting it at all, I was actually really surprised that he just stepped on my stomach lol? second time I wasn't crunching I was just tensing them, cos I was expecting it... but it hurt a lot), how do I become resistent to that?

    Sparring is the best training for fighting...you can work on moves all you want to and do drills, but there is no training like sparring over and over again. You can learn to fight purely from sparring alone, while the reverse can't be said for doing drills. If you are scared, you will be beaten up. I beat up a boy who was a black belt when I was only yellow belt simply because I was more aggressive than him. Don't worry about getting beat up, you're supposed to. That's how you learn.

    As for the guy walking on your stomach, the best way to get used to the pain is to get your stomach walked on often lol. It might seem like a smart ass answer, but I'm being serious. It's like anything else...if you want your pushups to get better, do push ups. If you want to get better at swimming, swim more.

    Most pain is mind over matter as well...concentrate on how you are breathing and tensing when your stomach is being walked on. You could practice flexing your stomach throughout the day too. Worst thing you can do is hold in your breath while he's stepping down. That's one of the reasons you're told to breath out forcefully when throwing a strike...if you're caught mid / post strike with a belly full of air, you're going to be hurting. Try short shallow breaths + tense your core, and see if it's easier.

    Can someone please explain why people recommend greek yoghurt rather than regular yoghurt? When I compared them at the store Fat Free Natural Probiotic Yoghurt had the same protein content but less carbs. I thought people recommended greek because it had a better protein content but it doesn't.

    Could be where you are, but most brands of GY here have more protein and fewer carbs than regular yogurt, on average (in my experience).

    I also get the 2% or "fatty" version of GY, which makes it pretty thick and creamy, infinitely preferable to their regular yogurt compadres. YMMV.
