To put it bluntly, powerlifting has peaked my interest.
I have not been lifting for terribly long. I took a weight lifting class in high school taught by our school's football coach, and did that routine for about 2 years(though missing a decent amount time though with injuries), and for about the past 6 months or so have been doing Layne Norton's PHAT.
I'm about 5'7 and 165 pounds, but have been bulking for a while and could stand to cut at least a good ten pounds or so. For the 165 weightclass at college age, what would be some good numbers?
I haven't maxed out in a while, but using some online calculators to estimate my numbers, I could probably bench in the area of 275, and squat and deadlift somewhere in the area of 350 each. (Had some lower body injuries, which is why my squat and deadlift are so low, but they are rapidly rising)
I'm definitely not expecting to win, but with those numbers could I do a competition without making a fool out of myself?

You will never get laughed at during a meet for being weak. Everyone is very supportive of each other regardless of strength, because we all have the same goal in mind. But once you do your first meet and do well, you will most likely be hooked on powerlifting.

You can always do competition. I am doing my first one in July at 165. My lifts aren't spectacular, but hey who cares. Its what I like to do.
Anyways my lifts at 165 (I am 20 in college, and college helps alot when lifting because more motivated), I can deadlift 415 right now, should be 450 in 4 weeks though, bench around 275 as well, and squat 380. In my opinion urs are great. I didnt even start lifting til last year, so you are great for being 18. I would work those legs though if you wanna compete. Bench is not everything for sure.PR's: 365 | 280 | 500 = 1145 lbs

First thing I would recommend is to work on form. Benching in the gym is not the same as benching in comp. You need to practice taking the bar, holding it up, lowering to chest, touching chest, and then have a friend yell press. Depending on the Federation you lift in there can be other rules. i.e. in the USAPL your ass and head cannot leave the bench, and your feet must remain flat.
Also, with squats breaking parallel is a lot lower than most people think. Hell, my first meet a few weeks back my first squat was like 4 inches high, but I nailed my 2nd and 3rd with the help of a friend who told me when I broke parallel.
That being said, go for it. I lifted in the 181s but only because I couldn't cut to 165. I'm currently 171 and I just graduated college. Your Squat isn't bad, your bench is good, but your DL, to be frank, sucks. For perspective my lifts are: Bench 250, Squat 380, DL 510. Just go and have fun. It is an awesome experience and it doesn't matter what numbers you are putting up (for your first few meets or so), it's about the experience and getting used to it all. Plus the people there are the tits and will help you out a ****load. Just pick a fed and lift in it.
What routine are you using? ****, I'd love to put on almost 9 lbs a week to my max.Never Give Up, Never Surrender.

Im also curious to compete in powerlifting competitions. I have been lifting consistently for 9 months now going really hard. Im at 170 and right at 15% BF so i can drop down to the 165 class no problem. My lifts right now are 240 bench, 345 squat, and 365 deadlift. Im also in highschool right now in my senior year.
