Today I went to the gym to train my son (we are working on his form on squats)
We were in the cage and right next to the cage there is the squat rack. While I was training my son two guys set up the squat rack an dyes they start doing curls. A guy walks up behind them and asked them how many sets they had left, they told him 5!
The guy clearly wanted to squat and he sat there ready to wait on these two f'cking buffoons. I couldn't take it anymore, I turn to the two guys and said, out of all places why must you guys curl in the squat rack, are you doing that just to be asses? Let the man use the damn squat rack for what is for!
They apologized and said we can do it over there we just didn't have any room (yeah right) and they moved.
The guy laughed and thanked me and said man you did what I wanted to say but couldn't.
Then my son turns to me and says, "Yo pops, my legs are killing me man, if we had to fight you would have been on your own! I called him a wimp

I do my biceps curls, stldl's, standing overhead presses, and barbell shrugs all in the squat rack so get bent I pay my gym dues
Okay seriously though when I am doing those I stay very conscious of people waiting for the rack and if I see them waiting I will ask them if they are waiting to squat and if they are I move out and do them off the floor. Except standing over head presses, its the only place you can do those at my gym.Get your ass in the gym period!

I was doing zercher squats one day and was almost done when this dude asked me how much longer I had, told him 2 more sets and he was cool with that. I finished up and cleared the weights off and moved on, this guy takes the bar and puts I think a total of 6 of the #5lb weights on the bar and then proceeds to curl in the rack...was the 1st time I had ever seen someone curl in the squat rack.
"You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

Why? Out of ALL the places to do this sh*t, benches, floor, etc.... why the rack? Why should someone that's squatting even have to ask to get in?
OHP... I get it. Rack Pulls... sure... curls? GTFO
People do curls there because it's "easy". Easy to unload plates, easy to just walk up to the bar, etc.

Since you asked why..
1. Paying your gym dues allows you access to the equipment
2. He said he does it when no one is around (I don't know why that would bother you)
I do them there too, so does everybody at my gym if the rack is open and they are using the oly bar for curls. Like I said earlier though, when I am doing that I keep an eye out for anyone that might be waiting for the rack if they are all full. I will ask them if they want to squat and if so, I move out. Otherwise why would it matter? Also our squat racks are the universal type. They have adjustable rings and handles on them, they have pull up bars on them too, and all the hooks and arms are adjustable, they also have fold up platforms built into them. People do tons of stuff in them other than squat. Its just the way it is.Get your ass in the gym period!

I ALWAYS am the first to say things to people when they're doing something out of line. This guy cut in front of this old lady who was waiting to use the drinking fountain. Not only did he take a quick sip but he sits there and tries to refill his 2 liter canteen. The old lady was just standing there not saying a word. She totally went out like a pu$$y. So I walked up to the guy and said, "Hey man, I don't care how big you are, this old woman was waiting for the fountain and you just cut her off!"
He something like, "Oh I'm sorry.. I didn't see her because I was so dazed and confused from my squats" yeah right...
The old lady thanked me but I scoffed at her and told her to grow a pair of balls and that if she let it happen again, I wouldn't be there to save her.Sept of Baelor was an inside job. Wildfire can't melt stone masonry.

as to Squat Racks and Curls: I don't use commercial gyms, however, something I can relate to at least a little: at my home gym, I have an auxilliary set of weight holders that I used specifically for long bar curling, so that I don't have to pick it up from the floor....there is an advantage to simply walking up to a curling bar....perhaps if some of these gyms had a few sets of these auxillary holders ( very inexpensive) they could avoid this scenario.Lift as MUCH as you can, for as MANY reps as you can,
while in complete control of the exercise.

Well obvious hyperbole is obvious IMO there should be a degree of etiquette no matter where you are (gym, restaurant ect) regardless if you pay for something or not. The fact that anyone feels a sense of entitlement because they "pay" always baffles me. I pay to go to a baseball game, doesn't mean I get to run out on the field.
This is the standard I live by ,obviously others have their own standard.

Seriously man, I told her that if someone tried pulling that shxt w/me they'd get their ass kicked... She said "Thank you sonny." I told her to STFU and get out of the gym and do what grannies are supposed to do like knit scarves and bake pies and other kinda lame granny shxt.
