I understand staying lean, but the gains were just too too slow.

Eh well if you run 5/3/1 by the book all your gains will be slow as **** regardless.

I would really only recommend it for power lifters, that really what it's designed for

I realize this lol, but they still seem exceptionally slow even for 5/3/1.

Your lift numbers are good but you need to eat more man.

    thanks guys.

I am actually really satisfied with my progress. The weights I am putting up are still heavy as crap to me and I am not looking to add like 20lbs in a year. Slow leanish gains are fine by me. everyones goals are different.

Have you done any deloads? Considering that your suppose to add 5lbs to upper body lifts and 10lbs on lower body lifts after every cycle.

You could have gained 20lb "leanish" gains in 9 months bro.

What you should do now is either add more volume for your hypertrophic exercises or switch to a different routine that involves both strength and hypertrophy and then just eat more.

If you ever feel like youre gaining too fast then you can always slow down. But you never know how fast your body will gain muscle until you find out how many calories it takes to start putting on too much fat.
