I have the exact same bench that you had delivered damaged and you didn't like the quality.

I personally love the bench so would recommend it. Maybe they sent you an item that was completely damaged and therefore the quality seemed horrible?

Why? The bench is 12" wide, 18" high, is firmly attached to the supports / spotters, and there are no supports to get in the way of your feet. (Did I miss any of your criteria?) Aside from you perhaps not liking the density of the padding - you'll just have to trust that Rogue knows what they're doing on that one - what would be uncomfortable about it?

I think this whole fixation with safety is blown way out of proportion. I also rarely miss lifts, but more importantly, as far as I can recall, I have never died. Not even once. Looking at my friends and family, death seems to be very uncommon. Most, like me, seem to never die. Even the very few, who do die, appear do not almost ever die, like maybe only once or something. Ergo, no need to worry about this safety nonsense.

With this irrefutable insight, I have removed the safety belts from my car. Not only does the weight reduction allow me to drive faster, the belts make great lifting straps as well.

Seriously though, don't you think you may have an irrational fixation with this whole bench vs rack thing? Surely, unracking is the same, right? After unracking, you are lying on a flat surface with a barbell in your hands. How the heck does it matter if that flat surface/bench is attached to the uprights or not, as long as it is stable?

    Cheers

Many people have told you to save money and space by benching out of the rack, but it seems that you want a seperate bench station,

These are the ones i would consider if i was you

This was never a thread where he asked for anyone's opinion. The OP merely asked where he can buy a specific bench. A kind of bench that he prefers. Everyone here has in the usual equipment thread tradition turned it into an I'm going to give you my opinion thread whether you want it or not. Why can't people on this forum just answer a question without telling someone to buy a freaking power rack. It is NOT the answer to everything.

But it might save someone from a possibly serious injury. There are literally dozens of vids posted on youtube of guys getting hurt on benches even with a spotter right there in place, much less some guy benching in his basement, by himself, lifting heavy weight.

The OP isn't the only person to read these threads. He can do what he chooses, and will anyway. Maybe some noob will read these admonitions and get the point.

The OP didn't ask a question worrying about what non powerlifter noobs should use. Let the noobs read the stickies. He asked a very specific question and gave his reasons for wanting the piece of equipment we was asking about. Almost two pages of typical equipment forum rhetoric and of the OP feeling the need to defend why he wants something. Look at the OP's signature and lifts. He obviously knows what he's doing. Finally 817boy provided a useful link for the OP.

I get what you are saying. Most people in the workout equipment section tend to try to save money and try to save space when possible. This guy said price wasnt an option nor was space so i posted some links.

Heres some more benches to consider

In my opinion and most peoples opinion on here you would be better off getting a FID bench and a power rack when you can afford it.

That way you will be able to use the bench for dumbell work and barbell work.

Almost two pages of typical equipment forum rhetoric and of the OP feeling the need to defend why he wants something. Look at the OP's signature and lifts. He obviously knows what he's doing. Finally 817boy provided a useful link for the OP.
The OP did indeed state that he wanted a certain type of bench, he also explained why: He is certain that he can lift 10 to 15 lbs more from a dedicated bench press than from a rack. That's a significant difference.

This difference can hardly be explained rationally, by physics or mechanics. It might appear to be more of a "mental" or imaginary thing, and thus possibly an ill chosen reason to encur the added expense and reduced safety compared to just using the rack he already has.

Hence it could indeed be appropriate, even constructive, to to suggest that OP revisit his reasons before comitting to his chosen path.

One can conceive of many reasons for wanting a dedicated bench press, but the notion of being able to "lift more" may warrant some sceptisism.

It seems like it could possibly be an okay bench for the general population, but besides the fact that it came damaged, the width of the seat at the point my scapula lies against it is only like 8 inches wide, which is nowhere near enough for me to create an efficient base to drive against the seat during a bench press or anything besides a military press.

Its quite possible that the quality of the seat and parts might be higher in undamaged units, but that one still wouldn't work for me anything. In a sense, I'm lucky it came damaged.

Yes, Elite Fitness has a bunch of good options, and I will most likely be going through them if I can't manage to find something with similar specs that can ship a bunch sooner.

I can't use those benches, if you check the specs, it has a weight limit of 500 lbs, well under what I would plan on doing with it when chains/bands are brought into play.

In another thread, a bunch of people helped me find a Texas Power Bar that could be shipped to me much faster than through Capps.

This thread has been very helpful too, but as a few other people said, I wasn't really asking about safety or the semantics of benching in a rack vs a bench. Its cool if you feel that way, but for me personally, the bench is worth it.

Well thats probably true, my fault.

Well, price is really no object as long as its not retarded expensive, and it has to be within the competition standard height of 16.5-17.5 inches high.

Elite Fitness is really a great option, but I really hate the idea of needing to use a commercial gym for 4-6 more weeks until they ship it to me, but if it comes down to that, I will.

No one ever told you not to powerlift.

The Rogue power rack that you have on order has "westside hole spacing".. created by very successful powerlifters for the express purpose of training the bench press and it's variants. The idea that benching in power racks is not for powerlifters is asinine.

Believe it or not, I didn't enter this thread to argue with you but when I see someone spreading misinformation as if it's fact, I believe someone should point out these fallacies.

Also, I apoligize that this thread has turned into a power rack vs bench thread.. I realize that that was not of your making. If I had the perfect gym, it would include a standalone bench press station also but it would be one of the previously linked units with safeties. I sinply don't understand how these don';t fit your criteria because once again, they were created by powerlifters for powerlifters...

I'm open to the idea that I could be wrong, and that finding an appropriate flat bench to use in the rack will result in a perfectly okay bench press, but that has not been my experience. I know the rouge rack was designed for that, its one of the reasons I ordered it, incase I need to max out without a spotter.

I hear you about the westside bench press. It looked like a great choice when I looked at it. but after I checked the specs, the seat is higher than is allowed in competition bench presses. I was strongly considering ordering it until I saw it was too high.

They all look really nice, but there are no height specs on the site, I will have to contact them.

The forzas are $995 I think.
