Exclamation Bound by Blood! Iron Addict

    yooo, welcome to my journal!

    background
    :
on 14th august 07, weighed 82kg. Left the UK for Africa, got back in July. Started university in the UK in september and made my first appearance in a gym after a 14 month hiatus on 15th October 08.

Lost 12kg (26 lbs) while in Africa, pushing me even further away from my goal of 90kg, but im ever so determined to get it all back and more!

I'll start off on the Rippetoe starting strength program while consuming 3000 - 3500 kcals daily (75% clean, 25% dirty)
    The Journey to April begins!

Then there are those we must challenge for that very same freedom... The laws of conformity and small-mindedness. The weight of these chains are so subtle, we forget them. This is how we are shackled, tamed. Normalcy becomes the rule and we grow comfortable with limits. Like a dog at the end of a leash, we move but never of our own will.

It is time to defy, time to rise up...
I will test my mettle, pull hard against these restraints. I will not let conventional thinking rule me. As I stand here, the chain will bury deep into my flesh, the weight will pull me down. But I will fight. I will defy gravity. If I fall, I will get back up. Brothers, life is short and every minute that passes hurtles us closer to the end. In the time that I have, I have bound myself to this chosen life and it to me--these words are the contract that bind me to this sport...

    Day 1 (15/08):

    Squat ; 3x5 @ 50kg (110lbs)
    Bench Press ; 3x5 @ 45kg (99lbs)
    Deadlift ; 1x5 @ 100kg (220lbs)

    Analysis:
Good day, slightly worried about the squat numbers though. Seems disproportional to my deadlift and bench numbers. Think i probably started too light and will up this by 10kg (22 lbs) on the next workout

    Day 2 (17/08):

    Squat ; 3x5 @ 60kg (132lbs)
    Overhead Press ; 3x5 @ 35kg (77lbs)
    Bent Row ; 3x5 @ 45kg (99lbs)

    Analysis:
Squat still felt pretty comfortable but not comfortable to go for a 10kg (22 lbs) increase on next workout, will just go for the normal 5kg(11 lbs) increase. Overhead presses were pretty difficult but i managed to put em up. Bent Rows done with ease, should progress normally to next workout

    Day 3 (19/08):

    Squat ; 3x5 @ 65kg (143lbs) up 5kg (11 lbs) from previous workout
    Bench Press ; 2x3 @ 47.5kg (105 lbs) - see analysis
    Deadlift ; 1x5 @ 110kg (243lbs) up 10kg (22lbs) from previous workout

    Analysis:

wtf? .. only thing that comes close to my reaction at the end of my workout. Squats progressed normally .. then came time for the bench. I've always ****ing hated the bench press, but 47.5kg ... should be no problem right? WRONG! Couldnt even complete my first 5 reps, got stuck on the 3rd rep and forced it up.
wtf? My diet's been in check the last week, and although this has happened to me before, i didn't have any problems till i hit 60kg. Now im stalling on 47.5kg??

Then came the deadlift! This being my favourite exercise, i knew there was no way i'd **** up. Lifted it with ease although there were minor grip issues. WIll need to get some straps for heavier future workouts.

x2 on that bench. Don't sweat it, man. It happens to all of us. Even if your diet is awesome, and you get plenty of rest, sometimes it just happens. It happened to me on bench a few weeks ago. I was doing incline dumbbell presses first on my chest day, and pushing 90 lbs on each dumbbell. Then the next chest day I decided to switch it up and do flat presses first, and I couldn't get 90 lbs, needless to say I was pretty upset, lol. I thought my flat would be awesome, since inclines are supposed to be harder. I just chalked it up to a bad day and tried not to let it bother me, because that's really all you can do.

    And sub'd

    Talking

    Day 4 (22/08):

    Squat; 3x5 @ 70kg (154 lbs) up 5kg (11 lbs) from previous workout
    Overhead Press; 3x5 @ 37.5kg (83 lbs) up 2.5kg (5.5 lbs) from previous workout
    Bent Rows; 3x5 @ 47.5kg (105 lbs) up 2.5kg (5.5 lbs) from previous workout

    Analysis:

easy sailing today as i cruised through all the lifts. Squats felt ridiculously light and i had to triple check to make sure i'd put the right amount on the bar lol. No complaints here though! Bring on 75kg (165 lbs) on Friday!
