In all honesty I drink 2 liters of diet soda a day, and I am fine; not the best thing no doubt but no real detriment. If you like it then drink it, for anything in the soda itself to adversely effect you, you would have to drink a very unrealistic amount.

I would try to reduce it. There's a lot of conflicting information regarding diet soda. Personally I've reduced it to one 12 oz can a day with dinner, and I'm even trying to eliminate that. So, I'd say try to reduce it.

I've been drinking a litre a day or so for years of the normal coke.. I've had several checkups (gave blood, gave p*ss) and I'm fine.

What kind of diet soda? Matters the sweetener used, everyone experiences different symptoms and problems depending on what the ingredients are.

Until long-term effects of artificial sweeteners is known, it would probably be wise to limit your intake.

Yeah, but i'm not talking of aspartame (The FDA Acceptable Daily Intake is 50 mg/kg. So my limit should be 3500. The amount in 1.5 liter is around 730. And i don't eat other things with aspartame so i'm not that scared). I'm talking about the other ingredients in the diet coke.

Lol. Advertising against all consumption diet soda is what makes someone a sheep. Read some online blogs of spam filled bulls'hit fantasy texts how that stuff is bad for you, did you?

OP - as of right now there exists no definitive data to suggest that Diet Soda's per say are harmful in any way. But as IronWill said - until more data rolls out, you might want to Not get all your daily liquids from diet pop. Personally I think a few litres is perfectly fine - unless you are intolerant to some substances used or feel adverse reactions from the carbonation.

For what its worth, my Aunt had surgery (a major fizzydrink-holic) to get her pancreas removed and it 'fell apart' in the surgeons hand and this was due to drinking alot of fizzy juice - according to him anyway. He said if he hadn't had met her beforehand he'd have guessed that it was a very old woman's pancreas.

Personally, as I've said before, I drink alooot of fizzy juice. Its an addiction. Can't imagine eating a pizza then washing it down with water.. and I eat pizza every day..

I know exactly what you mean. It's the same way, for me, with salty/buttery popcorn as well. There is not a chance in hell that I can wash it down with water. I've tried, and it's the strangest feeling. At any rate, my family and friends think I'm strange because I never drink any liquids during meals. If I'm going to drink something directly after a meal, it's always a Diet Coke or Diet Sunkist or something. Sometimes I find myself going 2-3 hours after a meal without anything to drink before tearing down a bottle of water or two. But the carbonation after pizza or popcorn just hits the spot in a way that I can't explain.

Gotta say, I love the feeling after eating a ****load of popcorn, having a nice chug of Diet Coke and burping up popcorn-flavored Diet Coke. I'm sure this can be flipped around to Coke Zero as well. Anybody else relate to 'dat feel'? (Since this is a thread about diet soda...)

Diet soda taste like sh*t imo. Just drink water....
Again this is my opinion. If you like it then go for it.

I'd be more concerned with the carbonation than any sweeteners if I were you. Not the best for your teeth.

Hey, as professional nutritionists say first of all you must know that diet soda isn't any kind of a healthy drink. Drinking 1-2 cans per day won't cause you any harm, and drinking diet soda is definitely better than drinking a regular one, which will increase your risk of obesity.

But it would be better to switch to healthier drinks such as fresh juice.
