Why do my shoulders look so thin? (not wide)?

My shoulder muscles aren't too small, and neither are my deltoids I'm pretty sure. But comparing the width to my head they look thin (unwide).
I thought it might have been the lack of lats size but I wasn't sure.

Most people when they start bodybuilding have either their traps come through or shoulders come through first. you have had your traps come through, me on the other hand, my shoulders came through. Just keep doing what your doing and theyll pop out eventually, it just takes time.

Dunno what ur training programme is like but if you do all your compounds heavy ull eventually even out. My Traps/shoulders are much bigger than my chest, just the way it is for the moment

But aren't they the same thing? Traps and shoulder muscle? Is there another name for this muscle that hasn't popped out yet?

    TRAPS

    DELTOID

Traps you work by doing shrugs and lat raises, deltoids are worked by military presses, shoulder presses, front raises, bent over lateral raise. some exercises work both, you need to work your delts more

your missing regular deadlifts, tricep work, lat work ie pullups etc... go to the top left corner, click "Find a plan" do what it says, ignore the suppelements part and see what happens in 12 weeks time.

Ah ok thanks, so its my small delts that are making my shoulders look less wide? I'll just continue what I'm doing in my workout then, (because of the bent over rows, overhead barbell presses and the bicep curls or the incline dumbbell curls.

Tricep work? No there is tricep work in there from the bench presses and sometimes I would add in hammer curls. There aren't any pull ups but lats are worked in bent over rows. But I suppose I could swap regular deadlifts with stiff legged deadlifts?

The whole point would be to add on to your workouts, work more muscles. Straight leg deadlifts emphasise hamstrings, whereas deadlifts emphasise the back.

bent over rows are great for the core of the back, where as pullups are primarily focused on lats to make you wide.

Bench press works the triceps, but have you ever felt the burn from skull crushers?

Thanks I'll add skull crushers and pull ups. And I might possibly switch stiff legged deadlifts every now and then.

I would suggest if u have question on All Pro's beginner program that u drop him a PM...he is very fast with responses...besides, it's his program! That program is bad a**...I'm on my 4th week & have gained mass & feeling much stronger!!! There are no negative comments on his program in the whole 500 pages on it cause it's no joke! Also he states over & over again not to change it...keep the SLDL & try doin a complete cycle before adding any isolation sets! Just do exactly as it says...it's killer!

Your also MAD young, and small. You would look weird if you had massive shoulders.

Keep working at it, you will have your day.

OP: don't listen to people who tell you to change a proven program when they no nothing about it. You are hitting every muscle sufficiently including your traps and your deltoids (shoulders). It just takes time for beginners to start to fill out. By the time you hit intermediate (benching and squatting well over your body weight) you will start to notice which muscles haven't developed yet and you can hit them hard with a split. Until then, give it time and you will notice your muscles growing. It takes several cycles of allPros before you notice major progress in hypertrophy.
    Hang in there.

Exactly...that's what I was gettin at! Obviously proven over & over again. It's a major treat to have someone like All Pro display this program on a forum & to stick with the thread answering all questions since 2007!!!

LOL. Do you even know about this program and who created it? It is one of THE most effective programs for beginners - which is why it is a sticky in the bodybuilding workout forums. Please don't dismiss someone like All Pro with such condescension, especially given that you know nothing about his program and they way it works.

OP, you are on a great program for beginners. Just continue on that and you WILL see results where you want them, over the next few months. Just make sure to eat properly, lift per All Pro's progressive layout schedule and get enough rest.
