What do you seasoned lifters think of the noobs in the gym?

I'm 18 and just starting lifting again. Quit in 9th grade so I'm quite scrawny right now..
I've been working out in my room but all I have is a bench and an EZ curl bar, so I'm lacking on a **** ton of stuff.
My dorm has a gym in it that I could go to, but my anxiety is making me really reluctant to go there.
Basically, how do I stop being a pussy? I really need to squat but my max is gonna be like 120. It's embarrassing LOL

This is exactly why I didn't lift till my junior year of high school. I would do anything to get my first two years of high school back so I could have started building mass earlier. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks, does, or says. Just pop in some headphones and go hard.

EDIT: And to answer the question more directly, I'm no seasoned lifter (2 solid years under my belt now), but when I see someone who clearly is just starting out, it always gives me a little inspiration to keep pushing, because I see where I was not so long ago.

Stick with it. The most seasoned lifters won't judge you for being weak. Just train smart and do lifts properly and I doubt you will have a problem.

    Exactly.

    If they're all

, then I'm like "lol you're ALWAYS gonna be a beginner," but if they're doing legit exercise and just using smaller weights I don't care. There's always bigger fish.

Lift Properly with correct Form, everyone will pretend you don't exist-No one gives a **** how much you lift unless your using 5lb dumbbells for dumbbell chest press because it looks like you have no idea what you are doing. Lift more weight you can handle and your arms start shaking and/or terrible form, everyone will be like this idiot is going to kill himself and ofcourse he has no idea what he is doing.

    Amen.

Weight is no indication of how good or strong you are, but your own progress is.

Like others, I started Squatting with the bar in August 2012... that's low but now, my personal max is 175lbs with crooked form. 135lbs is where I can do it with good form. Do notice that 135lbs is lightweight more many, but in 4 months, I went from the bar to a plate each side.

I felt the same way, basically any guy who isn't a complete idiot will not make fun of you. Focus on yourself, make sure you're doing everything with good technique. You won't get over your anxiety by letting it control you.

    ^ This.

That being said, if you worked out in my gym and you got in my way or inconvenienced me in some way, I'd be annoyed with you. But in that case, I'm annoyed with you and you just happen to be a noob.

As you can see from everyone's responses, most serious lifters are so focused on what they're doing they don't notice other people unless they're doing something out of the ordinary. Don't be intimidated or nervous of other people. We all started somewhere, there's no shame in wanting to better yourself, I think everyone can respect that.

The only thing that annoys me about a lot of the new people is that they start working out for the new year and give up after a month or two, I call them resolution babies. It sucks because the gym is more packed and the equipment I want isn't always available, but we all pay for our memberships so I don't have anymore right to the equipment than anyone else.

Just be careful starting out that you maintain good form. That's what I notice with a lot of new people is that they care more about the weight they're lifting than the actual lift itself. Don't be in a rush to lift heavy, take your time, no one really cares how much weight you have on the bar. Good luck with your training, stick with it.

Da fuq? Where else would you do a military press? I assume we are talking about a standard, standing military press.

Agreed! - especially the last part. A lot of the guys I see that are newer to lifting have the CRAZIEST form. So as long as you're patient and don't get In anyone else's way.. I think you'll be okay man.
    Just Train.

This. My gym also has only one squat rack, but that's the gym's fault not mine.

New gym pet peeve: people skipping rope in the middle of EVERYTHING. I walked by some dude yesterday morning and I reached my arm out right in front of him and smacked his rope. I stared him the **** down, he had nothing to say AND he immediately stopped skipping and never went back to it. I walked home from the gym that day and found a watch in a school parking lot, went in said school and turned it in.

You're welcome man kind, you are welcome.
