I've heard somewhere that squats especially with weights make your waist bigger. Any truth to this? Thanx

Nope, butt, legs and lower back sure maybe a little. And even if you do gain any size on your butt, legs or back you would have to bust some @$$ and really start squatting some weight. What is funny is that a lot of women do side bends, which eventually if done enough will kind of add muscle to the waist/obliques. Squat and don't worry, any muscle you gain will be great!

Heavy squats and deads will make your waist thicker...not just weighted oblique work. You're using your core muscles to a greater extent for the heavy weight.
Does this mean I'll ever stop...hell no!! Add some nice upper body size along with shapely legs and glutes and you'll have a solid overall balance to your physique.National Level Competitor (Female BB)

does this mean that getting bigger in my waist area will kind of hide the width of my hips? i have really big hips..or at least they seem really big because i have a small waist. im pretty self conscious about my hips so itd be nice if that would even out the proportions between upper and lower body a little
