When should I take Casein Protein? - Before bed is not an option for me

I'm starting a new workout after some period of rest, and I just bought a Whey Protein which I pretend to use after workout, and a Casein which I used to take right before bed.

The thing is, that now, I'll have to go to the gym in the afternoon, around 6pm, so having the Whey Protein after workout + casein right before bed + a meal in between, seems to be too much, actually I tried it once and I felt bloated, in fact, I think I actually gained a few pounds.

    Any advice?

Can take it in the morning, 1 scoop whey, 1 scoop casein, and the casein will digest for a longer period in the morning

Don't take it, or mix it with your whey. Casein alone sucks. I prefer food as a pre-bed meal anyway.

I tend to go into the gym at 7:30pm and I still drink a shake post workout, eat a meal an hour later and drink another shake or have a protein bar or even a second meal before bed. Learn to eat more food?

That said, you do not need a casein shake before bed. Just eating a meal before bed is fine.

There's no rocket science. Wait with the casein. After your whey protein is gone, try the casein after your workout and see how it works for you. Most likely after a container of each you won't see much difference.

    And then...

Try using whey after each workout for six to nine months. And then try casein for six to nine months and compare.

bro , you don't need the casein , just try to take the whey protein pre bed with some peanut butter , the remainder of the casein mix it with the whey protein post workout , and see how it goes , casein fills ur stomach more than whey that's y you feel bloated ... probably
    Why so serious, pumpkin?

dude you dont know anything..!!! you cant mix casein with whey
Casein has a unique property, in that ii coagulates in the stomach.12 This causes other proteins to be digested and absorbed much more slowly.

Have you ever tried to run through a vat of tar? It isn't easy by any means. You would be moving very slowly. Casein does the same thing to whey, and other proteins for that matter. Think of it as a sort of binding gel.

This simple little fact would nullify the biggest and most important attribute of whey. That is its ability to flood your system quickly with amino acid and stimulate protein synthesis.

Now before you ask, let me stop you - I already know what you are thinking. Perhaps it would be best to just slam whey protein drinks all day to keep your system swimming in amino acids, right? Wrong! It may seem counter-intuitive, but it would not keep protein synthesis rates up.2

Just having constantly high levels of amino acids or merely having a positive protein balance doesn't stimulate protein synthesis2,5,11 and doesn't lead to increases in muscle mass.18

^^ Hopefully no begginers here take you seriously, casein and whey are mixed in pretty much all weight gainers as well as some other protein supps. Studies have shown that mixing the two provides better results then whey alone. Please don't spread misinformation, especially in old threads.

Nelvek is on the right track. Casein clots in your stomach and is slowly digested and whey is beneficial in that it floods your system.
If you think he's dumb I bet doing a quick search on the very site which hosts this forum would support him in how both the proteins act.
Whether he is accurate in saying not to take them at the same time is another story.
