Chicken and rice... how long in the fridge?

Hey everyone I am going to make a serving of chicken and rice be my pre workout meal, but I would like to cook it once for the week. How long is too long of it sitting in the refrigerator in tupperware?? If I cooked up a bunch on Sunday, do you guys think it would still be ok on say Friday? Thanks for any help!!!

You can always do the smell test or freeze it.

I've seen credible sources state anywhere from a few days to a week. I go by the median, and cook enough ahead to last about 4 days. If it looks like there will be enough to last longer, as the above poster states, freeze it.

Smell isn't always a reliable indicator of viability; but if in doubt, throw it out. If you have ever had a real case of food poisoning (Lysteria, e-Coli, etc.) you won't ever need to be told this a second time.

I never thought about freezing it... I assume that I would just need to re-heat it for a little bit longer? Thanks for the help... repped!

    What can I say

I usually just defrost it for a day in the fridge, if I know I will want to eat it that night - toss into a saute pan with some Pam and heat it up on low heat constantly stirring.

    ^ THAT.

Would it be okay on Friday? Maybe, but you're cutting it close, and it's just not worth it IMO.

Make enough for 3-4 days and you'll be all set, or freeze it as the above poster suggested.

also to OP, I cook up my chickens and beef for the entire week. Put the first 2-3 days portion in the fridge and the next 3 days in the freezer, just defrost them when you want to eat them
