I know we are still developing, but I've seen skinny kids at my school who are 6'0'' and about 165, and are squatting 300+, and i've seen people at my gym doing the same weight but are much more muscular. does that mean us teens dont have enough testosterone or what. I eat alot, but ive only gained about 15 pounds since october, so would it be cuz our bodies are still growing.

Teen pack on tons of muscle. You can pack on 20 pounds in three months as a teen. What 40 year old can do that (naturally)? Remember adults in the gym have been lifting for years...years! They have experience. In no way does that mean they build muscle faster.
A king may move a man, a father may claim a son. But remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God you cannot say "but I was told by others to do thus" or that "virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice. Remember that.

And compare this teen also BBing for 3 years:

Note, they are both natural and steroid free.

Hes probably been competing for three years but lifting for much longer.

what age group are you refering to as adults? yes IMO people from 19-26 or so will gain faster than teens. teens may have most test but they also have more estrogen which is why gyno develops in this stage. in the range i stated, aside from hormone differences, they should have more dedication and seriousness to their training than a teen and probably wont have problems buying supps and food they need.

1. you have absoltely no proof either of them is natural and steroid free unless you tested them.
2. muscle maturity plays a factor
3. genetics play a factor
4. dedication plays a factor
5. lifestyle plays a factor
overall, it should be easier for an average teen to pack on sizeLast edited by thebeast1; 04-22-2007 at 12:41 PM.

i personally think diet is a large factor as well. When I was 16 I weighed 165 and was 6'1". I was very active, with great endurance, but no mass or muscularity, and figured that it was just genetics. Looking back on what and how I ate...well lets just say I ate a lot of crap and usually not enough to gain much mass.
One other thing to remember is that strength and muscularity are not strictly tied together, don't get me wrong, bigger muscles can allow for greater strength, but hypertrophy is not always a sign of who is strongest.
I envy you young guys that are learning the right stuff at your age. I wish I had the kind of resources that are easily available now when I was 16.

First of all, it's not true that having more testosterone stunts muscle growth. More testosterone means more muscle growth, why do you think there are testosterone supplements? Lifting is all subjective, there are many factors including: diet, routine, seriousness, and genetics. Teens are relatively done growing at around 17. Just lift hard, and you will grow.

Older people have already filled out,Look at BMI charts and bodyweight percentiles.
Weight goes up quite a fair bit naturally through the teenage years,towards the end of growth,You grow wider instead of taller aswel,making you look bigger.Someone that is 16 wont have reached their peak test level anyway.
A 19 year old though vs a 35yr old im 100%sure the 19yr old would gain more.

You also have to take into consideration
strength does not automatically = muscle, and vice versa
world's strongest men competitor's and powerlifters will train using only lifts, whereas bodybuilders tend to do isolation exercises as well as these.
The World's strongest man will probably weigh about the same as a pro bodybuilder in season, but will almost definately have a higher bodyfat and although the world's strongest man may have smaller arm and leg measurements he will definately be squatting about 300lb more and won't be performing isolation exercises and training mainly with lifts such as deadlift, snatch, powercleans.Last edited by _Mazza_; 04-22-2007 at 03:02 PM.

i think the reason adults are more muscular is just because muscle takes a long time to fully develope. Its not that adults can gain muscle as fast. but i think its that the muscle they gained during there teens and early adult years is finally filling out and tightening up, if that makes any sense at all.
I dont know the specif reasonings behind all of this but you are definately right. Considering teen is 21 and under, and adult is 21 and over. I know many teens that can squat 315, and bench 225 easy, but none of them look that muscular or ripped, whereas, i see many adults in there mid twenties and early 30's that are doing half of that on lifts, but they take their shirts off and they have amazing physiques. Like they are symetrical, and have nice size. I really think its just the time and dedication finally paying off.
i mean, im 19, and i am not at the point i want to be at all with my physique, and i only trained for 1 year now(though i have come a LONG way) but then i say, hell, imagine when im 22 or 23. I will be jacked! i think we can all relate to some like thisLast edited by jollyleafman; 04-22-2007 at 03:46 PM.
STATS:
Bench Press = 205 x 8
Squat = 225 x 8
Deadlift = 365 x 8
Shoulder Press = 155 x 8
Barbell Row = 175 x 8

Yes, teenagers have more testosterone in their system, but this differs to the amount of "free" testosterone there is for e.g muscle growth. As other growth is occurring muscle growth is not a priority. Adults have more "free" testosterone which is used for muscle growth because they don't have puberty needs. í ½í¹ƒ
