Guys,
SO I need some experience here... I've been suffering from MAJOR hypothyroidism since the age of 10 (I'm pushing 30 this year). I take 300?g synthetic hormone every day and it's working well. But of course, the disorder affects my condition...
A few months ago, I changed my diet to a low carb one. Not because I wanted to shed lbs but because I found out I couldn't digest them well, regardless of their glycemic index. I eat fat stuff and of course a lot of proteins. But get this - I don't go crazy overboard with anything. Normal guy here. I even eat pizza once in a while. LOL
I lost 22 lbs just by changing my eating habits, without depriving myself at all. And I felt more energy throughout the day, better workout, etc.
Now that my eating and workout regimen is in place, I'm looking to add supplements to help results. As a good hypothyroid type of guy, I have stubborn belly fat, for example.
What supplement would you recommend? I looked into MELTING POINT, CLA, etc. CLA seems to be good for mice and I ain't no rodent.
Alright, so any advice is welcome! ^_^

CLA should be ok. I agree with checking with your physician before taking any supplement because of your underactive thyroid. I think your taking 300mcg instead of 300g of the thryoid medication, correct me if im wrong though. Alot of fat burners play a role with thyroid interaction, especially the ones as a stimulant base.MHP Forum Rep

supposing
Supposing the cause is hypothyroidism(were you diagnosed?), there are a few helpful supplements you can take to assist you in allieviating your problem.
Tyrosine is an amino acid that can be obtained from different foods and can also be obtained via Phenylalanine metabolism. Your thyroid glang collects iodine and mixes that with tyrosine to form the basis of its hormones(T3, T4). To do this requires iodine, tyrosine, and the metabolic nutrients required to metabolize tyr- Folic acid, B3, Vit C, copper, s-AME. So make sure your getting a multi-v everyday and don't be afraid to use extra water soluble vitamins like folic acid, B3, C. You can supplement tyr around 1-3g/day. Because tyr can be made from phenylalanine, and phenylalanine is absorbed BETTER than tyr, you may want to supplement with Phe instead-as long as you are not a phenylketoneuric. It metabolizes the same as tyr just add some B6. Your iodine should be somewhere around 150mcg(minimal requirement)-1000mcg(health needs) which is a wide range, but needs vary depending on health. I'd suggest eating kelp or kelp-type supplements rather than supplemental iodine.
Some supplemental stores sell T3 and T4, might want to check them out.
Foods containing thyroid supportive enzymes and nutrients
apricots
dates
egg yolks
molasses
parsely
potatoes
prunes
WHOLE grains
RAW seeds
fish
chicken
milk
cheese
AVOID THESE FOODS because they contain an enzyme called goitrogen which act like "thyroid gremlins":
broccoli
brussel sprouts
cabbage
kale
peaches
pears
radish
spinach
turnips
Also buy organic toothpaste. Organic toothpaste (which I use as well) doesn't contain fluoride. Fluoride, chlorine, and iodine all have similar electro-chemical charges so that they compete at receptor sites at the thyroid gland. They will decrease your iodine uptake which is bad for your thyroid as you know. That means no tap water, and only organic toothpaste. No chlorine, or flouride.
I'm sure if you saw a doctor who's prescribing meds. has told you not to take calcium or carbonate supplements around the same time range as your thyroid meds, right? Because it can interfere with your T4 absorption.
And finally, of course you can buy thyroid glandular supplements which contain the basic proteins to incorporate into a healthy thyroid. Btw you might want some extra glandular support because as you know thyroid problems could chain react itself into putting stress on other glands that are attempting to pick up the slack. Cool? Good luck!! Peace.I am NOT the great kornholio. I do NOT need any tp for my bunghole.
