I see you are kicking butt on your lifts. That's awesome that the coach and you get along. I may have missed this - are you going to compete in a power lifting meet?

i want to, maggie. right now with my weight being so high, i dont know if it's what i should do, or wait until im out of the 198+ class. ideally, i want to compete in the 181, but i'll take it as it comes.
getting a better handle on my diet these past couple days. and just did my grocery shopping for the week and bought lots of things that are fairly easy to make for me, so i dont have to make two meals every day at dinner. big salad and precooked chicken breasts for me, when the meals i serve might make me go off my macros.
my goal this year is a 30 pound loss from the 239, so it's actually more than 30 pounds this year, as i gained a bit over the holidays
i think its do'able even for me, the worlds worst dieter. i think in another year or so, ill be ready for a competition.

I was going to ask the same question Maggie did. I don't know much about powerlifting competing. Do you pick one or two lifts or do you have to do all of them?
I think the diet sounds good. I am about to cut as well, and I am like you, not do good at dieting!!!Spoon Barbell Club

you can pick push/pull, do just one, or all three lifts. i am going to do all three even though my bench sucks. hopefully in two years time, i will have figured it out. i dont know if i will be ready for a meet before then.
the diet has to happen, but i am going to miss this surge in strength i've had this month. won't see that when i start dieting. if i'm lucky it will just slow down rather than me regressing.
thank you, equi! i am super excited about you starting to lift heavy. you are already seriously strong.

Congrats on the squat PR geek. Your bench and BOR's are balanced nicely as well. Hopefully you will not lose strength on the diet, I have actually gained some strength on mine. I just keep the sodium up and try to stay no more than 500 calories under maintenance and it has worked very well so far.

I don't know that feeling .... my lifts are like "damn, if this doesn't cause a blood vessel to burst in my head and cause a massive stroke on this bench ain't nuthin will" BRB living to be 100 .... I sure hope Depends look good under Lulu's

thanks, louise! trainer was good.
i think i read somewhere that lulu's are magic. when wearing depends it hardly even shows. when you reach 100, you'll rock it.
you were the only one who knew it, then! i have struggled so much with these freaking squats. your constant feedback has helped me immeasurably. thank you so much.
i am getting sorta emo about food stuff again. i think i might buy the body media fit thing next month if i cant sort this. PR's are great, but this overeating HAS to stop.
trying to take it slowly and not freak out. last month was a disaster food wise. the worst it's been in a while. i can joke about it, but i need to take control again. today was the first day that i have not indulged in dessert items and tomorrow is the end of bread. bread is a gateway drug. i ate almost 2500 calories today. if i want to lose i need to keep it between 1900-2000.
tomorrow's goal is 2200 or less. *and* i will do 30 minutes of cardio.

Hiya Geek. Do you know what's funny? You all are encouraging me to quit looking at the scale in my journal. That so long as I am focusing on lifting heavy, things will just fall into place. And do you know who I thought of?
You.
I was thinking about some of your recent videos of you squatting, deadlifting, whatever, and how you've been focusing on getting stronger all the while your hips and waist are going in. YOU have become a reference point of mine. I refer to YOUR experience the way I look at Julia, Swoosh, and others.
You're amazing. And because I have had a glass [or two] or wine, I love ya, Geek!!!~TEAM AMAZON~ Sisterhood of Iron

Hey Geek
Glad the coaching sessions went well and that he found as we did on reviewing vids your squat and dead form is solid / ever improving. Looking forward to seeing the training plan he setups up for you.

i fel asleep at 7:30 that night, so i was up super early, even before the baby which never happens. i'm working on getting friendly with that wagon right now. i'm side-eyeing it.
you are really nice to say that to me. thanks, fizz
it's official i have gained back 10 pounds. weighed in at 250 this morning. the damage i can do in one measly month is amazing.
thanks, b. i think ive decided not to go with the trainer for now. he's great, but the FICA 2% reintroduction is pretty devastating to our discretionary funds. i can't justify paying for coaching right now.
yesterday's nutrition
2,191 calories
229 carbs 91 fat 159 protein
and then in the middle of the night i ate 1.5 cheese sandwiches i am counting that on todays macros. suuuuuuuucks.Last edited by geek23ka; 12-31-2012 at 08:17 AM.

baby took his nap early so workout is done!
MADCOW Week 8 Volume Day
Squat 85x5, 105x5, 135x5, 150x5 (felt harder), 171x5 (forward lean on rep 4. bad one. really felt heavy!)
Bench Press 50x5, 65x5, 80x5, 93x5, 105x5 (scared to death of 105 and last rep was a bitch and a half, but i did it without a spot, hobbes!)
Bent Over Row 50x5, 65x5, 80x5, 90x5, 105x5 (all were fine)
Accessory
GM (115x8)x2
AB Rollouts 5x2
regular old workout. nothing much to say, other than i'm glad i got to do it. baby won't go back to baby jail until next week when the daycare reopens, so i am happy to get my workouts in at all.
i will say that since i had those cheese sandwiches last night i have already had 1200 calories for today, which sucks balls. salad and green beans with chicken from here on out.

public school. i have big love for it. i cant wait till both of them are there.
thanks, ms. swoosh <3
i am trying. i have people like you to look to. you've built an amazing body and you keep on going. it's good to see.
thanks, equinom. you, too.
the "finally a workout!" workout.
Week 8 Deadlift Day
Squat - 70x5, 95x5, 120x5, 120x5
ohp - 45x5, 55x5, 65x5, 75x5
deadlifts - 135x5, 160x5, 195x5, 230x5
AB Roll - 10x2
mixed grip on the 230.
all felt good. wasn't nearly as scared of the 230, but it felt heavier than the 242 that day. i think the diameter of my bar might be on the big side, which is fine, bc then when i go to meets, i wont be surprised by a bigger diameter bar, and might get more lift all of a sudden. that's a good thing.
hope you guys are having a good day. <3

Geekalicious! You are rocking the squats and DLs with some crazy weight lately woman! OHP is also totally coveted but I've told you that more than once
I hear you on the stupid 2% change blasting the discretionary spending. I really need to get my son out of pullups for good now!

aw, thanks, jjeane. i am getting closer to deadlifting my bw, so i'm excited about that.
thanks, tina. when i first started lifting in april i was push pressing about 70 pounds or so and thought i was doing OHP. it's was a painful experience to realize that i was indeed *not* performing an OHP. lol. so me getting good on that is something i look forward to. it's so slow going!
the coach mentioned that he had a deadlift bar. that's probably what i was suing and it made it feel so much easier. do they use deadlift bars in meets generally? (i hope i hope)
<3 you are always so sweet and supportive of everyone here. i appreciate it bc i look up to you, so practically preen when you approve. srs.
omg diapers! sooo expensive. most of our money is going to school loan debt and when we had to re-work figures, we decided not to touch that money, nor touch our savings goal, so discretionary spending is out the window. i'm also going to start following a food/household expenses budget and have to plan the weeks meals. i was very fly by the seat of my pants before and was throwing away unused produce. that is definitely stopping. also no more joyrides/zigzagging in town for errands. gas is expensive and i have a behemoth of a car.
i am 80% sure i'm getting the bodymedia fitlink thing now. birthday is coming up, and we budget for presents, so i think that might be my present. i have been trying for 8 months now to lose weight and have lost very little. bc i eat too damned much. i think this gadget will help bc it's a constant reminder of how much (or how little) i've expended and hopefully will rein in my ability to fool myself.
thanks for the support, guys, while i figure this all out. i really appreciate you.
