You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I received my mini deadlift jack from Again Faster today. I am impressed with the packaging; other companies like Body-Solid should take note! The paint job is rough--literally and figuratively. I have never seen this style of paint application on gym equipment before. I would prefer a smoother powder coat finish. Also, there is a stenciling error with the letters G A E painted further down the main tube. Like others in this thread mentioned, the amount of rust is disappointing on a brand new product. I will probably spray paint the interior of the tubes black. Overall, the mini jack does its job as expected and the plastic protection on the bar hook is a nice touch. I would have gone with West Cary Barbell if the shipping cost hadn't been so high ($97.44 shipped vs $55.94 shipped from Again Faster). Here are 18 pics in the gallery below:

One thing about steel, INDOORS, rust is your friend. It's stable, it's "dead", it protects underneath, and if there's no corrosion (different than rust. Look for black spots), it's not going to get any worse. Keep it dry, KEEP IT AWAY FROM SALT, and it'll be fine. I'm talking surface rust, not perforated obviously.

I didn't like the paint so I'm stripping it and will repaint. When I started stripping the paint, I realized that a large part of the problem with the finish is that some of the tubing is heavily rusted and pitted. Some of the tubing is ok. Some was pitted fairly badly. Also, they painted right over the rust without sandblasting the surface first. For the price paid, I guess it's not that surprising that the quality isn't the best. I like the design. It could be smaller but it doesn't really matter... at least to me.
When I ordered it, I didn't realize that it was made in China. I probably should have guessed it based on the price but it didn't occur to me. I probably would have ordered one of the American made deadlift jacks and just added some plastic protection. It would cost a little more but it would be less work than repainting and I'd have an American made product. If you just want something that does the job and is cheap, then it seems to be a good deal for the price that i paid.
Based on this experience, I definitely wouldn't buy a rack or any other major piece of equipment from them. But for something like a deadlift jack, it's not that big of a deal.Last edited by morebarbell; 04-06-2014 at 08:35 AM.

I agree with this but the paint hasn't bothered me. The size is fine for me and it leverages just fine and has made me not hate setting up dead lifts. For the money I say great bang for your buck and it doesn't grind down your knurling which is why I bought it. I might repaint it red when I find time.

Here's a photo of the pitting on my Again Faster mini deadlift jack. Most of the paint has been removed (not finished yet) and a large amount of rust scale came off with it. Unfortunately, the pitting is too deep to be filled in by a primer and the surface will still look bad even after it is repainted... but hopefully a little better than it did originally. I'm not sure if it is worth repainting now that I know that the surface is so bad... and a rattle can paint won't be as durable as a powder coat... BUT, I think it will be an improvement over the original paint and I'm happy that the ugly logo is gone. The photo is of the handle. The other pieces were in much better condition.

I got a Dead Wedge from lift .net. (can't post a link or an image, google it). It's pretty expensive for what it is but I didn't want to mess up my bar knurling with a deadlift jack style. Haven't used it much yet but I think it'll serve the purpose better than rolling it onto a plate, and it's more compact that a jack too.

You are not supposed to sell stuff here and you must have a minimum number of posts before posting links to pics, but you can attach pics to your posts. Do you have a website?
