Why is it hard for me to gain weight?

i started lifting and eating properly at the beginning of january. i weighed about 152 then, now i weigh about 164. from january up until about late february, i was consistently gaining about 2-3 pounds a week, but now it's really hard for me to gain weight. starting march, i went to 161, then to 164, then back down to 162, then 165, now i'm 164. i keep gaining and losing weight every week. however, my measurements keep increasing. i eat about 3200 calories, with a 50/30/20 ratio of carbs/protein/fats. do i need to up my calories, or am i just losing water weight or what?

When your body has finally adapated to the upping of calories from the last time you did this, you will see some fluctuation ( like you are) the couple lbs you gain and los here and there is water weight, but since you are stuck at a stone in gaining it means its time to up it again

try adding 200-300 cals for this upcoming week and see how that holds you.

Weight yourself first thing tomorrow morning, and then a week from tomorrow do it again and see if you have made any progress,

Try adding a few hard boiled eggs, an extra TBSP of peanut butter etc etc. I think 50% carbs is plenty you could always use a little extra fat / protein

Well your metabolism could have gone up even more to compensate the extra food. So you could try eating more.

Hopefully someone else will chime in.

You sound like an ecto, have you always been slender growing up pretty much no matter what you ate?

Try upping your calores to 3500 or so/day for 2 weeks and see how that treats ya. Second, most of your initial gains were probably n00b (beginner) gains, which is very common, but you have to understand that eventually you'll start plateuing from that initial stage at some point.

Overall, 12 lbs since January is very nice imo, especially if your lifts have gone up a nice amount, which would mean that most of your gains have been LBM.
    Be humble or be humbled.
