Hi Guys
I just wondered if anyone here can tell me if it's possible to get a job as a gym instructor/personal trainer with a conviction for common assault that led to an 18 month conditional discharge. I really think this is the career i want to choose and i would be gutted if something that happened in the past stopped me from trying it.
Thanks
Paul

Gyms typically don't like to hire people with violent crimes on their record. However, you should not have any problems if it only happened once, it wasn't very recent, and the incident is explainable. But if you have more than one or it was very recent, the hiring manager has to know you personally to ensure you aren't going to go off and hit a client.
So I say if you are in the latter category, befriend the gym manager before applying or take sargefit's advice and go independent.Professional Fitness Trainer
