Thanks guys. Definitely need a break from squatting for a few days. The Russians certainly know how to design a training program though

I hope TM bench works as well as TM squats do. I've been stuck around the same bench level for a while Need to change things up.

On a side note, I've done all 5 weeks of Smolov so far in the Rehband knee sleeves (18 sessions in 5 weeks), and they are still as awesome as when I first got them. I've had absolutely no knee issues whether squatting or not. Highly recommended!

Thanks Woodman, and yes, I'm anxious too We'll see on the first max day this Thursday.

I know I'm still not 100% because my shoulders are still feeling it from yesterday's bench session, when the weight would suggest otherwise. Going to skip OHP tomorrow to get more rest in for the joints.

Yeah, the chest-supported version is definitely tougher. The pad makes it hard to breathe, which contributes to the difficulty.

I suppose you can wear them for daily use, but your knees will get sweaty so I'm not sure how comfortable that will be after a while.

Yeah, FatGripz do a number on my forearms brah. I get the most burn when using them with bb curls.

Now that I'm done with the Smolov base cycle, I had my wife take a picture of my back to show the bar line. It's like a battle scar

You can clearly see that I squat low-bar lol. Also, the posters are my son's

    Barbell Deadlift:
    135x5
    205x4
    275x3
    325x3
    365x2
    405x1
    405x1 (vid)
    425x1 (vid)

    Notes
    * Since I'm in the switching cycle for Smolov, where I'm supposed to be recovering from all the heavy squatting, figured I'd do some light deadlifts

    * This was the first time in 5 weeks for deadlifting. Form was awkward at first and just generally crappy throughout, although it got a little better at the end. I felt weak as sh!t though, probably from squats and also my CNS has forgotten what deadlifts feel like

    * 425 was a little slow but not hard by any means. I didn't want to go too heavy because I'm hitting squats again on Thursday night.

Nice easy pulls. Do you notice much difference with the deadlift slippers? What did you wear before them?

I don't see what the big deal is with hex plates. To be honest, as long as they're the proper height, I'd actually prefer to deadlift with hex plates. I fukcing hate when I'm trying to set up and the bar is rolling all around. It's better to reset yourself between reps on deadlifts anyway, so who cares if the bar puts you out of position when you put it down?

i just get annoyed by them in general. i know if the bar isnt straight i can just angle my body but it's just one of those things that get's on my nerves. also i don't ever really have a problem w/ plates rolling and when i do i can just roll them back into pos. resetting is fine but i dislike extended resets.

I used Chuck Taylor's before, and I like the slippers better. Lower to the ground obviously (not by much), but I feel like I can push against the ground better. So if barefoot is not allowed, this is the next best option. I like them even better than socks because the slippers have traction.

There's one gym with round plates that I can get into, but it's 20 minutes away by car. No go. I've learned to live with the hex plates

Eh, doesn't bother me much anymore. Especially since I'm doing singles at the heavier weights.

Would go for round plates, everything else being equal. But of course they're not

I couldn't imagine trying to line up the holes in the hex plates lol.
