To add to RollTide's pump up list..

Hey I just met you. And this is crazy. But today is chest day. So spot me maybe?
Art thou prone to such insurmountable force upon thou biceps?

I understand fearing failure with a barbell ... but with dumbells ? can't you just drop them on the floor ?
"By striving to do the impossible, man has always achieved what is possible. Those who have cautiously done no more than they believed possible have never taken a single step forward." Mikhail Bakunin ~

I started doing dumbell press for my DTP workout..
Well I got up to 65's which is just about my body weight.. got up 4 reps, and on the last rep I nearly smooshed my face. Now, this might have made me prettier by leaps and bounds, however, the structural damage and pain to my face would be unwanted.
Luckily it bounced off my rocksolid pectoral muscle and harmlessly floated to the ground.

My spotter was the reason that it almost nailed me. He ran over because I got shook a little on the first rep. Well, I got 2 more full reps out of the way, and on that last rep I started getting it up.. it made it 60% of the way, and with his arms under mine I couldn't really drop it forward or to the side. Rather the only way it could fall was towards the bench.
He should have caught the weight when it fell or just helped with that 1 dumbell.

Can you do 75 or 77.5 lb' db presses?
Height: 6'4
March 2010: 290 pounds 40+% b.f. (obese)
August 2011: 168 pounds - 122 lbs lost. (skinny as fuark)
Currently: About 225 lbs. 14% body fat
NASM and NCSF Certified Personal Trainer
Feel free to message me if you'd like some tips on fat loss or muscle growth. I've had a lot of success with both.
