    Airplane Question? Protein Powder?

Has anyone, recently, traveled? Is protein powder an acceptable carry on item? Thanks in advance

Don't even try it. I travel all the time and your chances of getting your carry on through security are not good with a mystery powder inside it. If you're checking luggage, you'd probably be fine, but I would highly discourage bringing the powder on board with you. I take the low sugar protein bars with me on trips and they never bat an eye at those. I know they're not as good for you, but its better than nothing.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

I've taken Myoplex packets in my carry-on several times recently, without getting a hard time. But aside form that or a brand new, sealed container of some kind . . . you'll either get delayed, harrassed, have it taken away, or all the above.

Meth and ******* dealers ruin things for everyone.

I haven't checked if they are allowing liquids aboard again yet, but if they do, maybe bring a RTD. I'm too lazy to check though.

This advice is totally bogus. I travel a lot for business and always bring my protein with me.

Ziploc freezer bag. Take a magic marker and write "protein powder" on it. I've never even had them take a second look, and this was in my carry on bag. I've taken a couple quart bags when going on longer trips.

They are concerned with weapons and liquids right now. Terrorist stuff, not drug stuff.

I have an unopened tub that i was gonna bring. This should be fine? Would I be best off dumping it in a plastic bag? Also, would puddings definetly be a bad idea?

This advice is totally bogus. But to think that they are looking for Terrorist stuff, and not drug stuff, is probably the dumbest thing Ive ever heard...

Your best bet is just to call the airline and ask, most likely they will say no. So what I do to avoid any hassle is to bring a bar or two with me. Or once inside the terminal I will buy something inside, atleast in the airport I usually leave from I can get something that fits nicely into my diet (i.e grilled chicken salad, with a bun or something) And I bring that on board with me.

Then why are you asking if its ok as a carry on item, if your not using it at the airport?

Why not just purchase a small 2lb tub of protein when you land? Its cheap if you dont use it all just toss it in your checked luggage.

Heat? you know its far below freezing outside when flying (around -55C) So no heat should not be a problem.

Heat is no problem... and never will be. You can cook a steak for an hour in the microwave and the protein will still be there. Won't tase good, lol, but it will be there. Denaturing doesn't make the protein useless. Hell, the food you eat is going into 8M+ HCl (hydrocloric acid). If you are getting protein through that, it can stand a little heat!

I have never had a problem domestic or international. Flew across the country as recent as 2 weeks ago. Flew to Toronto and Montreal respectively 2 and 3 months back. Each time having a big ziplock bag in my carry-on. The pulled it out almost every time asking "whos bag is this", they put the protein poweder back in the bag and I was on my way.

People behind me may have been startled thinking it was dope at first... A big 5 lb freezer bag of whey/soy mix waving around. And them asking who's bag is this, kinda funny actually.

Bring it with you carry on or not, it's protein powder, if there is an issue they can test it for explosives with that explosive 'sniffer' machine.

Air pressure may have broken the seal, I don't think the luggage compartment is pressurized.

Is there any reason in particular that you can't mail it to the hotel/house that you'll be staying at in your destination city? This would bypass all of the worries you have about airport security, as well as give you extra space in your luggage for other items...

Only problem with this is that it may get held at customs if traveling internationally.

Pills in a bag should be fine. But again before this thread goes on any longer, are you needing them for while your on the plane? Or can you just put them in your checked bag.

Alright, this will be my final question. Can any of these items be damaged if checked (not carried on): Pills, protein powder in container, protein puddings (in tins)? Thank you

Good point. I think that I read a post where he said it was still sealed, this should help with customs. If he declares it as a gift with a value of under $50 there shouldn't be any duty tax required, either...

Im pretty sure the luggage compartment is not pressurized, so they might brake open. Not 100% on that though, like I said before call the airline before hand, with these questions if you want to know for real.
