there's a reason they cropped his feet out of the comparisons. Jk. but seriously...
didn't read the article but wtf at him winning side chest and front lat? I think kai won sc, fl, fdb and ab and thigh. Everything else you could make an argument either way I suppose. But only pose phil won no doubt is the rear lat spread. Even so kai's looks better on video. For some reason it looks like **** in pics, but much more competitive on video. All that said, I still think kai has better taper, flow and aesthetics. Preference I guess. Phil's torso just dont flow. Looks way too thick and compact. Kai looks much more natural/graceful.

First, thanks for the scans.
My takes on the pics...:
- both looked 'amazing';
- Kai was overall bigger;
- Phil was much harder/conditioned;
- despite being beautiful and detailed, Kai's back lacked mass, meaning the muscles didn't come out and have the same thickness as Phil's;
- Phil's victory was deserved;
- that version of Kai with a proper conditioning kills Phil.

The author did give the Side Chest to Kai (which is very fair).
The only questionable one is the FLS. I personally think kai dominates that pose (better quad sweep, wider, and equal conditioning). Phil's thickness (something he has over kai on the chest/arms) really isn't all that apparent in the FLS.
Either way, this competition was neck and neck. Kai knows it. Phil knows it. We know it.
Kai showed that he and farah are perfecting their strategy. Phil is going to have to do the same to keep the title. There will be a lot of pressure on Phil this year to make things perfect. We'll see, with time, how he has reacted to it

Everyone is biased because the sport is subjective....You see things how you see them. I saw Phil clearly winning, won the front double biceps but loses front lat spread, imo. Kai wins side chest and Phil wins on everything else.
However, just wanted to say that bodybuilding shows are not about who wins the most poses. That might be one things factored in, but it's about who has the best physique overall. The best physique might not even be best in any one particular category(size, proportions, conditioning, and "wow-factor" stuff like full, round muscle bellies, or a freaky bodypart). And it's not just mandatory poses, the guys are always being assessed or at least always can be as long as they're on stage. And don't forget the "relaxed" poses are judged, too.
Yes, Phil was more conditioned. Phil was a little less conditioned than himself last year, but he was still more conditioned than Kai during both prejudging and finals. He showed more details. Kai's definitely got better detail in the quads though. Kai has back thickness, but the separation ain't there to the level it's at on Phil. Phil's erectors seemed thicker than Kai's as well.
Kai definitely was conditioned this year, but it still wasn't enough to beat Phil.

Did not like the article, Phil Heath is a great bodybuilder a deserved champion and a competitive person, yes he does have great genetics, but it's not like he is on some Luke Skywalker or some Neo bourne from the matrix tip, Flex Wheeler,Levrone,Dillet,Ronnie Cole, There are those past and present who are on equal footing albeit in different areas genetics wise that could present a real an credible threat to the authors claimedHeath Genetic throne!.(not to mention a few
No,...buuuuuuuuuuut reading this article will make you want Kai Greene to MORPH INTO MUTHA****ING KING KONG! and take it in 2013. I needed a bucket i was about to puke, Kai's BDB throttled Heath in the pre-judge, so damn thick n juicy next best thing to a Coleman.
Again this is Heath propaganda, lets not be ignorant and try to sugar coat what Heath did, he felt threatened, he did a great diservice to himself,his image and to his fellow competitor,(lets not paint another version of history k ) Kai on the other hand let his physique do the talking and when that was not enough he too showed his competitive mettle and served Heath equal portion of indecorous behavior, Kai was not going to be walked on.
This brings back mild rage, and how an author could be so enamoured with an athlete to promote him to Godlike status.... derp

I really prefer Kai's physique to phil's but I don't see how anyone could make a case for kai winning the show. He faded too much in the finals, simple as that. I think he had phil at prejudging but lost too much ground at the finals. Whilst the conditioning was every bit as sharp as phil's the fullness was lacking enough to show phil as the rightful winner.
Kai with the same shape, size and conditioning with the fullness that was lacking would beat phil imo. However, I believe phil slightly missed his peak as well so he has room to improve as well. The thing I notice most when I look at these pics is how much more size phil put on (particularly chest and arms). When he learns to dial in these gains the way he dialled in everything in 2011 it will be a difficult pakage to defeat. Looking forward to 2013.Natural Bodybuilding - The Lonely Journey
