What the GOP wants to do here is break tradition to make Obama look excessive by crediting him with all spending, including Bush's. Frankly they desperately need to do this because they have spent his entire term demonizing the guy for spending (while ignoring Bush when he did it). lol the 'projected cost' was doubled within 24 hours of when it was presented. Nothing ever costs anywhere near government estimates, and that is using official numbers. Since there's no way to actually audit the government its impossible to say what the actual cost is.

And what's included in the chart has nothing to do with the request made by Ecto: To list all spending bills signed into law by Barack Obama in 2009 - and their effect on the deficit. Not to mention, the OP chart pretends that Obama had no control over any 2009 spending - a position which has been solidly disproven multiple times.

Government spending is going to increase if the economy is growing, that will never change.

Check Federal Expenses as a percentage of GDP, that will give you a better idea of having control of spending. You can't blame Obama for the loss of revenue over the past years but you will see that spending as a percentage of the US economy is the highest its been in modern times and there has yet to be viable solution on how to prevent it from getting exponentially worse.

I suppose pointing at the guy before Obama is probably a much easier defense.

Why is the appropriations bill laid at the feet of obama like it was a spending increase that he came up with on his own? If congress wasn't broken bush would have signed it. The isn't new spending it was an incremental increase from the year before and the difference in the appropriations bill wasn't terribly significant from 08 to 09, so explain to me why you are indicating that obama spent 410B? Are you ignorant of the reality here or just being disingenuous as usual?
