    My Wilks strength score

    I have no Idea what this means. Can someone explain this. I know I am pretty weak in my bench and squat, but what does that score mean and what do I compare it to.

    Erm, what do you want us to tell you? Your Wilks score means you will place behind people with a higher Wilks score than 290 (most people), and in front of people with a lower Wilks score than 290 at a PL meet (some new lifters).

    I don't see how my answer was rude. You have weight loss goals in your signature, and I wished you good luck in them. Sorry but at 410 lbs and with a total of a little under 1000 lbs you are fat, and I'm not going to call you large or curvy or whatever. Being fat is one reason your Wilks is low.

    I don't think anyone is trying to be rude. Use your score of 290 as a start point. Try entering your current lifts at your gaol weight your score will be much higher. As you lose weight that score will go up, but as you lose weight your lifts will probably come down alittle. As long as your score doesn't go below 290 you are not getting weaker. Use it for motivation when or if your lifts come down alittle and if your lifts don't go down watch that score climb. I hope my answer helps, Good Luck with your Goals.

    I understand that, I dont care that you said I was fat, I am. I dont understand why having a total under 1000 pounds makes me fat, I thought my fat made me fat. I dont powerlift anymore, I was just curious on what this wilkes thing was, I used to be really strong untill I shredded my left knee and tore both rotator cuffs, now I lift for fun. But thanks anyway, repped.

    wilks coefficient has been in use in powerlifting since 1997.

    Well, if you were 400 lbs with a 2200 raw total (Glenn Ross) I'd hesitate to call you fat because you'd also be quite muscular too. You make a fair point though, even people with a good total at 400 lbs are still fat.

    My Wilks was 307.76 at the last meet I did. Not far from 290

    My lifts are gradually coming up and so will anyone who trains hard, barring an injury.

    Although an interesting point to note here is my Wilks was obtained through a meet. If the judges had passed my 330 Squat and my 281 bench, and if they had passed my 420 DL the first time, I may have made 435 and my Wilks would've been higher.

    Did you enter your best lifts to obtain your Wilks, or contest Wilks?

    There have been a number of similar Threads here about Wilks. I imagine you are putting in your Raw numbers. Mine are geared at this point.

    If you could have hit the numbers you mentioned previously at a meet, you would have a much higher Wilks! Unfortunately, a lot of our best lifts might not be passed in a Powerlifting meet. I compete in the USAPL which has very strict juging.

    307 looks about right for Smitsky. Mine is something like 320, and our lifts/BW are similar. You did something wrong if you got >580.

    Oh. I would like to get back into powerlifting again but I think it is a risky notion. I just lift really heavy(for me anyway) On all my lifts. I do bodybuilding lifts but with power numbers and methods(if that makes sense.)

    USAPL Maryland calculated it for me at the last meet I did in their Fed.
    Bench (raw): 325 lbs. X 1
    Incline Bench Press (raw): 225 lbs. X 8
    Squat (single ply): 355 lbs. X 3
    Deadlift (single ply): 441 lbs. X 1
    Powerlifting Total (single ply): 1116 lbs.

    Just so you are aware, we had a big discussion on this site not too long ago about this. There is a group who believes that, unless you have competed in Powerlifting at a sanctioned meet, you are not a Powerlifter. The other group, as you might imagine, believe that just because you train like a Powerlifter, or have good numbers in the Big 3, or some other criteria, this makes you a Powerlifter.

    Your response about Bodybuilders and Bodybuilding is very similar to the one used as an argument by the group who did not compete, but who felt that they were Powerlifters.
