where are the cheapest places to buy meat? (uk)

Hi, I'm beginning to get a bit skint and need to find the cheapest possible location to buy meat from in the uk.

Whenever i see people talking about the price of the meat they buy on here it always seems ridiculously low. i've looked everywhere for it but can't find anywhere good.

I've believe i've looked in every supermarket and the cheapest i can find for chicken breasts is around £4 for 600grams. Not counting the frozen chicken breasts you get in the big bags that contain like 30% water and dextrose. Is this the cheapest it comes in the UK?

in particular i'd be looking for good price on chicken breasts, prawns, fish and any other meats really.

Measly reps for any assistance given.

Probably somewhere like tesco but if you know your butcher well you could probably get some not so popular cuts of meat for dirt cheap.

This sounds like the opposite of what you'd expect but places like waitrose and m&s put meat on sale on certain days - mainly sundays, u can pick up some great quality meat and then u can freeze it for later use.

Visit ALDI and pick up some tuna steaks, high in protein and fairly cheap

lol buying the Waitrose meat is what's gotten me into this mess i live next door to a huge waitrose at university and the meat is just so good (but expensive).

Thanks for the tip i'll try ALDI, i don't think i've been in one but there is one a few miles away. Although it might be a LIDL.

Are there any meats that are very cheap that i might be forgetting? I normally buy beaf mince, chicken breasts & tuna but have the occassional bit of steak.

Are there any other cheap meats that are reasonably high in protein? Like much cheaper than chicken breast but with similiar macros?

If you're willing to venture away from meat, eggs are incredibly cheap and a good source of protein and fat.

The waitrose steak escalopes are unrivaled, I'm hooked.

To be honest mate fish is generally cheaper than meats in the UK from what Ive seen, unless you particularly hate fish, I would look in to eating more of it, and the great fat content makes them pretty good nutritionally.

Sadly in the UK meat is just extortionate, and since ur at uni I would learn to love eggs and start eating eggs/egg whites in large(r) quantities. edit- ^^ beat me to it

    Morrisons is really cheap.

You can get really cheap cuts of meat at the butcher as well.

Try to start liking liver, hearts, and all the cuts most people dont buy. You can pick up a liver for around 30p.

At my butcher im paying around £6/Kg for chicken breasts, generally buying 3kg a week (10 breasts).

    Beef is wayy more expensive.

I get 90/10 lean ground beef (mince) for 5.20~ a kg in lidl.

ASDA/Tesco can get chicken breast/fish cod for 4~ a kg if you dont mind the crappy frozen stuff

Tesco have 2 for 6 quid on the 500g 95/5 beef (use to be 2 for a fiver.....bastards!)

Costco/Makro are pretty good bets as well
