How to get my wife to exercise?

Can someone help me find a SAFE way to get my wife to work out once in awhile? She's been a stay at home mom for 6 months now and is back to her pre-pregnacy weight, but terribly out of shape. Well, she's never been in shape as long as I've known her anway, but I always hoped she would try some day. She's 25, 5-3, 175, and very low muscle. I love her just the way she is; I just want her to be healthy.

Bad news dude. You can't get her to exercise. not unless she wants to do it. No amount of coaxing will work. My wife of over 30yrs finally starting going with me. She has always fought her weight, and still does. But she has to do it for herself and no one else. My bet is your wife will be the same way. But be an example to her, and maybe she will join you.

If I knew how to motivate them, I would be a millionaire.
The Socialist Party candidate for President of the US, Norman Thomas, said this in a 1944 speech: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

    Try this....

"Darling, please come to the gym with me, I want you there. I think I'll do better committing to better health if I have your support. And anyway, I think it will be fun."

and if this line works, try to have fun with her while you are there. Talk to her while you are there and focus her health, not her form.
I might be out of the woods...

I know I'm a lot younger than a lot of folks around here, but I always wonder about some things (like the topic of this thread).

Mind you I'm not married or anything so take my words for what they're worth.

To me it always seems a natural sort of progression to want your spouse to train with you supervising since you at least want them to be healthy. However, I think someone can be considered healthy by the general public but to some other folks (especially those that love the bodybuilding lifestyle) would not consider all that great.

For example: someone can be slim without much muscle and still be healthy like not getting sick all that often. However, many of these type of people(especially if they are sedentary and/or partake in very few activities) tend to become frail as they age. That is something that honestly worries me sometimes because it means having to pay hospital bills, it means seeing a loved one get injured, or worse.

I'm just sayin: I think lifting a little or even just playing some sports could help a lot with health general. Especially since lifting aids with bone density and women tend to decline in that department as they age. I think having a little muscle SHOULD be considered part of being healthy since it aids in injury prevention and aids all around health in general.

Just my 2 cents on the subject anyway.

    Do not expect; just accept

A lot can be done with a mature and patient approach:

First you must accept that if doesn't come from her it won't be.

Think beyond gym: What activities does she enjoy? Walks on the beach? horse riding? cycling? kayaking? Can you adapt to her type of activities?

It might be better if she is active not with you or not only with you.

Try to think of women who can support her on being active - Women who are active themselves and can be a good model for her. Women know better than us how to support and motivate women. They just do it better.

    Except in one thing...

I never asked her to do anything but when my girlfriend found out that the results of her training increased my sexual appetite... Boy, she just couldn't stop exercising :-)

    sweet nothings..

Here is how you do it...it might take awhile but everyday say something romantic and nice to her like wow I am one blessed man to be married to someone as sexy as you...or when I look in your eyes I am totally blown away..when I touch you baby it is like the first time....buy her little gifts and leave love notes make passionate love with her mind. Heck by the time you finish with her she will eagerly want to become her very best......I wish you well on your quest give your lady your best and you never know what awesome things will occur.
where there is no vision, the people perish, proverbs 29:18 I can see what I want to become how about you?
