looks good. i take it the seat goes down with the bar? seems like it from the photo. i still can't believe my york seated calf for $5 . i made it better recently by adding 2 olympic sleeves to it. really makes it look alot cleaner . do you plan on putting horse mats down in the entire gym area? i still have to buy 2 more

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Thanks man. Is your calf raise posted on here somewhere?
The seat does move with the lever. Its ok, I don't have a lot of experience with seated calf raises, so its fine for me.
There are already mats covering the entire gym. Anything you see that doesn't have mats on it is probably not intended for gym equipment.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

ah i see it. the angle of your peg board threw me off but i can see. plus what you wrote about not using the whole basement, i get it . your basement is like this one guy's when i bought his ringside boxing stand. it was 2100sq ft all open bigger than my entire house. i want a basement like that! .
here's mine:
i tried one where the seat went down with the bar. i didn't like it. i only got it cause it had handles for the knee pads. i sold it for a lil more than i bought it for. the york one is better. since the seat doesnt swivel it hits the calves that much more. my calf machine isn't where the photo shows (in the other room) but i'll update the photos at some point .
im surprised for not being on pillow blocks, the motion is very smooth on the bar. it drops like nothing is holding it. i wouldn't mind checking out the sorinex seated calf/tibia just to save some space but considering thats over 1k or so that will be awhile heh. i should ask healthnut where i can demo sorinex stuff. the place near me listed on the sorinex website doesn't have any sorinex machines.▪█───────█▪ Equipment Crew #46 ▪█───────█▪

Buffbrown might be able to help you out too...he knows the sorinex people.
Your machine looks good....although for $5, it could look pretty bad, no? I sold a rusty beat all to hell one a few years ago for like $30! It had been sitting in a flooded garage with some other stuff that was a mess. I'm sure the olympic sleeves make a lot of difference...less play and slop, which can make all the difference in the feel of a piece of equipment.
All of my buddies are a little jealous when they walk into my basement...its awesome....although its gonna be even better when its finished. When we designed and built the house....we just said make the whole footprint basement....it doesn't cost that much more to go 8' once you've already gone 4'!▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

i'll ask buffbrown . mine's not in bad shape for $5. just the weight arms are a lil scratched (covered now by the olympic sleeves) and the antislip foot things are mostly gone. otherwise its all good .

Keet, I love the pictures of the gym ! The bricks are really cool looking, other than the fact that you can't hang stuff easily on them (I have gypsum covered concrete walls in my basement so I'm in the same boat. One of my favorite pictures is the GHD next to the leg press, it shows how big the really are.

Are you talking about the Leverage Squat Machine? I assume you are because that's the only one I got rid of.
Well, I had both the Powertec and the Bodysolid....Bodysolid was slightly better if anybody's wondering. After owning and using one or the other for over 4 years.....I decided I just didn't have the space (Which is interesting because the machine was actually pretty versatile....I could do squats, calves, and viking presses on it). However, it took up like a 5'x6' spot. I can do squats in the rack, calves with the seated machine & dip belt/block, and viking presses with the landmine and a special bar attachment I have. Also, the machine did hit the quads more specifically than a squat, but I can really get that accomplished with the front squat harness I have as well.
It just seemed that since I could do everything on it in another fashion....why take up the space.....so I let them go. If I had more room, I'd bring it back....it was a good addition.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

Thanks man. We planned the house out for a couple of years before we built and many people who'd been through it before strongly suggested we go a foot or so deeper so the basement ceilings were normal height when we finished it. I'm very glad we did. We didn't get everything right, but the time we were allowed to plan really helped us do a lot of things well and there's very few things we'd change 9 years later.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

Good thinking. My house has a basement with the cement floors so Im really lucky for that. But its ceiling is only 8ft total, and it has the joists/floor beams which drop 1/2ft, the effective height is only 7.5ft. So with a 7.5ft rack like the R-3 Id have literally zero clearance, and would have to bolt right to the floor. Even the rack on a 3/4" mat would be too high. So the 7ft racks would be best for me.
Even when I over-head press I have to use all 10s or I hit the joists unless I am perfectly aligned, LOL.
Your brick walls are really nice too in the basement.[]---[] Equipment Crew #6 []---[]

Half Rack Heaven
My high school weight room looked nothing like this............Equipment Pron!!! Legend Pro Series Modular half racks, Legend Pro Series Adjustable benches, UMAX urethane plates, UMAX bumper plates, Everlast NikeGrind rubber flooring tiles. Those J-Hooks are awesome.

I've seen one made in the forums before using a sling, I think it was FishPat, and I thought that it was a great idea. Years ago I had a window washers belt made from leather. It was before they used harnesses and it was awesome. I don't know what ever happened to it though.

4" is nice, you don't even need the extra material at that width. But doesn't the chain scratch up that pretty hammertone "rosemary" paint ?

The surrounding flooring is InfinityMax 2' x 2' rubber floor tiles 1 1/4" thick. The flush floor look is more common now for customers that can afford to do the entire gym in rubber tiles from the several companies that offer it now... I am still trying to guess what brand of cages those might be. A new style of Rogers Pendulum maybe? They don't look like any PowerLift models that most bigger colleges tend to use. My gut instinct tells me that they are a new style of PowerLift. The gussets on the corners of the cage should be a giveaway. PowerLift uses InfinityMax flooring on their installs. However, I do know that this facility, at least, has some Pendulum machines.

Thanks, I just checked it out. http://infinityperformance.com/infinityflooring.html Very nice, and I can imagine the price wouldnt be too prohibitive in a small garage gym like mine especially since a piece of plywood would take most of the space. Unfortunatly most of the rubber tiles I've seen come in metric standards, while our building materials usually still come in imperial- 50x50cm rubber tiles, and 8x4ft sheets of plywood so it'll be harder to get that fit. I've been looking to change out my flooring in the new year, so this may be a way to go depending on price and availability of compatable materials. I'm gonna look into it though when my finances get a bit better.
