    Well, day 1 of the quest to cut 42lbs.

    Despite having a painfully pinched nerve in my back, I got it done. The pain is radiating down through the back of my right leg. I did this while moving landscaping blocks last weekend.

    I have back tomorrow. I will be doing a few "work arounds" to get that done. No pulling from the floor for a few weeks, and potentially no, or very limited leg work. This to shall pass.

    I am going to try to be smart about this. A few years ago I set out to lose weight, and in the process of losing 100lbs, I looked the same, but smaller. I was reckless to say the least. Having been at bb.com for a while, I think I have gotten somewhat smarter about eating. With that said, I am shooting for 2lbs a week. I know my body a little, and I am likely to lose 4-6lbs the first week to ten days, due to carrying a lot of water.

    Well, I got it done today, despite my current ills. I have a consult today for my back/leg, so I am not feeling that.

    I normally do seated DB presses, but no way I get the weights I need up to my shoulders with this back issue. I used the heaviest DB I could get into the right position. I was quickly reminded about how much different standing DB presses are compared to seated DB presses. Almost hit myself in the head on the first few reps. Shoulders have always been my weak area. With two RC surgeries in the bag, I feel lucky to be doing them as I am. Every time I feel an unfamiliar twinge, I get nervous. SO far, so good.


    I have legs tomorrow. Oddly enough, my leg does not feel terrible when squatting. It only hurts if I try to touch my toes with my legs straight (or if I sneeze or cough). I will attempt legs tomorrow, but I have a feeling I will be doing little more than going through the motions due to the pain I know is coming. All of this is depending on what the doctor tells me. If he tells me no lifting for a week, that is the plan. This doctor has done three surgeries on me, and he has never done me wrong. He is also a lifter, so he gets it better than some (I am told) as it relates to lifting weights.

    Doc set me up for a few sessions of PT, and a 5 day regimen of an over the counter anti-inflammatory. I ain't natty now, if you know what I mean. I will be back to natty in 5 days.

    Doesn't think it is anything too serious, so far. No legs tomorrow, so I will walk for an hour instead.

    It's been a while since I have stopped in here. I am working on my new avi, and figured I had my best run of success while I was maintaining my log. If my calculations are correct, I should be close to my target weight in about 3 months. I am going to lift as hard as I can (I do anyways), and not fret over numbers on the bar. My stats would indicate that I don't anyway.

    I agree with that. Keeping a journal definitely helps with accountability and staying organized. I got away from weekly lifting for a few months, and was running more-but I've started balancing the two again. Wish there were more hours in a day.

    I know you'll do whatever it is you set out to do. I'm sorry you've been dealing with an injury. That's tough. I'll be following along here, if that's ok.
