Most of the doubters are guys under 200 pounds. At 180 I needed 3000 calories to grow, at 190 I needed 3500, at 200 I needed 4000, 210 4500, at 220 I need 5000, and at 230 I need about 6,000 calories to gain any weight. With a 44 year old metabolism and 12-15% bodyfat. If you do the math here it's more and more food with the more muscle you have to maintain that weight and grow further. Not hard at ALL for me to believe someone on all the gear, slin and HGH at 270, training insane volume & doing cardio might need 8-9k a day to grow. Not hard at all.

i negged him, then he hit me back with a blue which i assume was a neg, saying "bye". hopefully that means he wont come back
btw like ive heard branch and numerous other pros say before, they dont keep to the exact same diet or workout everyday. so when they post something like this, it cant be considered his constant diet. do you really think he would eat a cheat meal everyday?"Dont rush to get grown, drive slow homie"

I bulk on roughly 3500 at my weight and my diet isn't exactly fantastic. I have no doubt Phil could have that many in a day, but it doesn't mean he does every single day.
EPO all in my veins; Lately things just don’t seem the same; Actin’ funny, but I don’t know why; ’Scuse me while I pass this guy.

I really can't believe this and I think that this isn't true.
I think they wanted to show what it takes to be a pro and how you get this big (but we all know how the pros got their muscles).
2 years ago I read an article about Markus Ruhl and he said that he eats about 6000 calories in offseason and he weights 325lbs. and not 270lbs. so this would be over 3000 calories more than Markus Ruhl eats although Phil is 55lbs lighter. That's not true in my eyes.
It's the same with training. Some pros say in interviews they train 7 days a week and 4 hours a day (in offseason). This isnt't true too. They maybe train 5-6 times a week and maybe 2 hours a day in offseason.
I think all those unbelievable statements about how often (7 times) and how long (4 hours) pros train and how much they eat( 9000 cal.) in offseason are lies. They say that so that normal guys like you and me think that they are natural athletes and all their muscles come from that hard training and the loads off food they eat all day long.

repped
DY is a horrible example. He also claimed to be training 3 hours per week in prep for a contest vs other guys doing that per day. Worked for him. Same thing can be said for diet. Does DY know how much food phil needs per day to maintain what he has while simultaniously adding muscle? No, only phil & his trainer does. The Road To Success Is Paved With Many Failures

okay, I think most of you are missing the point that this is not EVERY DAY... That diet includes 2 optional meals! one of them 2,400 Cals the other 800 Cals. That knocks off 3,200 calories right there briniging his totals down near 7,000 off season regularly.
I know that My 170's lb natural self eats a MINIMUM of 4,000 Calories a day when bulking and I only gain about 1lb every 2 weeks off that.
believable, yes.
EDIT: lol I can only imagine the thermogenic effect of all that damn food...NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

No way he east 9.5k calories a day. When most pros talk about how much they eat, they are usually saying something along the lines of 5-6k a day. And Phil is not exactly a 300lb Ronnie Coleman, so there is no reason for him to consume so much more than other pros. No doubt he could manage that in a day, but there is no way it's every day.
Oh, you mean like metabolism? The thing that differs immensely from person to person? Yeah, good luck trying to find an average buddy.Bench: 215x12 (17/12/2011) PR since torn RC
