With regards to UW. It has been discussed already about corporations being in a "my donation is larger than yours...". There is a method to their madness, as the UW logo on corporate press release/info is felt to be a positive. And, there are different levels of "corporate giving" where it relates to overall donation as well as participation. Somebody else mentioned about the ability to direct donations within UW, which is possible if the company has set that up through UW. This can allow you to set up 25% here, 40% there and 35% to somewhere else. All of them being local charities.
I have felt a different way for small/medium companies, and even larger ones via regional/state level, is to set up company wide volunteerism. I.E. spend a day at a local school doing clean up/painting/etc. Same can be done at local shelters/etc. This seems to get employees directly connected to the community as well as a bigger sense of involvement. This can be done more than once a year, either company wide, or even each department signing up for a few different opportunities during the year.

No it only has an adjustable screw to determine how much pressure is applied to hold it into place. I tried some of the holsters with a retention strap and they just don't work for me. I managed too slice my median, radial, and ulnar nerves in half a few years ago so my feeling in my thumb is non-existent and strength and dexterity is also limited. Thats one of the reasons I went with the M&p9 without a thumb safety because my thumb doesnt work well enough.
Nothing is impossible.

It's never occurred to me when I've been in the USA that the guy next to me could have this strapped to his ankle. Kind of a mind-blown moment for me right now. It looks pretty sweet though!

Seems weird. Around here you need a permit for Concealed carry and anyone can legally open carry. Ironically, here, if you have a permit to carry concealed you can't conceal in certain restricted zones but you can carry openly where someone with no permit can't carry at all. still no "assisted" knives allowed though

I need some quick advice. I've got an oportunity to pick up the following equipment:
1. Northern Lights rack with lat pulldown attachment
2. Northern Lights bench with leg extension/curl attachment
3. Northern Lights Roman Chair
4. Northern Lights Bumper Plate Rack
What would the going rate on each of these pieces of equipment be?Last edited by AttyGuy; 11-03-2012 at 02:20 PM.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Atty, you'll have to do some conversion, but the NL stuff is popular and made in Canada. A store called fitness depot carries it up here. www.fitnessdepot.ca
It's "middle of the row stuff" or beginner stuff"
You can look up the new prices but assume you'd get less in the States.

Yeah, I was within $25 of you, NM. If I can get the price below $300, I'll do it.

Yes, mine has the pull down but I do not have it attached as I have a dedicated lat pulldown machine. Our currency may be on par but generally used workout equipment goes for a lot more money up here. However, the deal I got was much less that anything else I've seen in probably a year for a NL (or any other) rack. You'd be shocked if you saw the prices of crud up here.
I wasn't aware NL sold stuff down south. For comparison, I believe the one Paradody rack is the exact same at the NL rack...you'll have to forgive me I don't know the model name. What do those Parabody racks go for on Craigslist?

I have seen a lot of Northern Lights gear in DC. Don't know why. I never see Parabody stuff in DC. . . . The NL stuff I have seen is well made.

Those prices sound about right to me, too.
Any rack in that class (Body Solid, Parabody, Tuff Stuff, etc.) ought to be worth $300.
The local PIAS has a NL bench for $69, without the leg ext/curl attachment, so $100 with the attachment seems fair.
The roman chair and plate rack are a bit harder to judge since prices are all over the place for comparable items, but $75 and $50 seem like good starting points."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Reallly? Good question. Did you read the stickies? Do you live in America and have you checked craigslist? Do you live in Canada and have you checked kiiji? Did you know that there is a preference around here for racks, Olympic weights, benches and bars over multigyms? Well?

Yeah. When the hoi polloi show up on the EC Part III page. . . .
On a positive note, I flipped a complete set of gray Standard brand Oly plates with a black oxide bar for $150 this morning. I've got some benches to move next. To be seen is whether I can swing the deal for the NL gear. You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Nobody wants to do footwork...ever, WTF ?
Glad that you flipped the Oly set, and I was wondering how the NL deal was going .
I have a bunch of weight sets to flip as well as a few other things as well, but I may just wait until January for two reasons. One I'm getting too busy with the holidays coming up, and two, the fitness boom always kicks in at the beginning of the new year because of resolutions. Luckily, I have the storage space at the moment."Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do, than by the ones you did" Mark Twain

If you have a home gym and you've got the space for more than a rack and a bench (e.g., DL platform, leg press, preacher curl, leg curl, etc.), it really makes sense to have more than 255 pounds and one bar. And it also makes sense to have the same brand/model of plates. Easier for interchangeability.

So after playing it safe a full 10 months without squatting or deadlifting heavy... I dislocate a rib from the t7 spot on my spine.... Doing low cable flyes of all things. I knew the second it happened when I heard a click and my entire back locked up. This happened 4 times last year and every time it was from squatting or deadlifting so I dropped those lifts and have been fine since. I can't get in to my chiropractor to get it popped back in until noon tomorrow so I have a long day of back spasms and torture. Anyone else ever popped a rib off their spine. Subluxed rib is term my doctor uses. Usually a guaranteed week out of the gym and 2-3 weeks of girly lifting.
Nothing is impossible.

Hang on there man, I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery. Is this something that can't be fixed? I haven't had that specifically happen, but have had injuries, and it isn't any fun to be sure.
