Whats a good leg press? I did 690 today, but didnt max. I have never seen anyone else do it, so I am not sure what to set as goals etc.

    For a max?
At you're height and weight i'd say at least 1000lbs for a decent leg press.

I dont ever max out on leg press.

that sounds reasonable, I did 690 like 6-8 times. I didnt have a spot, so I wasnt trying to get stuck in the leg press machine. Reps

A decent max on leg press is an amount of weight that if you loaded it, it would take you a half an hour to unload it. Unless I get a weightlifting assistant, I'll never be maxing on leg press.

Probably about 8000lbs. Leg press, especially singles, are about worthless. I usually find that people who do leg press' are finding excuses not to do squats. That is what I do, "by back(knees) hurts I think I will do leg presses." I am speaking from a PL'er standpoint. However I do not think they are a tier one exercise for quad development for bodybuilders.

The leg press is useful, but not as a max so it doesn't really matter what kind of weight you're moving.

lol it does, it's just not relevant to post maxes on legpress since it depends what machine you use etc.

It's a shame that the original poster asked a serious question and got a bunch of jackasses trying to be funny.

How much you can do on the leg press is not a good way to gauge your strength, especially since not all leg press machines offer the same amount of resistance with the same weight. 6 plates on one machine might feel like 8 plates on a different name brand. It's also a poor way to judge strength compared to squats. I know people who can leg press 8-10 plates per side but have a hard time squatting 250lbs.

Don't be too concerned with the amount of weight, just make sure you do a full range of motion, don't turn into one of those idiots I see trying to do 20 plates with knee wraps and a 3 inch ROM.

That depends on a lot of different factors. Height, weight, leverage, center of gravity, etc. Shorter people generally have an easier time squatting than taller people.

It takes an average person years of constant training to hit 500+ pounds. If you're a large guy or just have really good leverage and\or genetics, you'll hit it sooner.

How much you can do on the leg press is not a good way to gauge your strength,...
Yeah, we're all so glad that guys like you are here to explain politely why the question he asked is stupid. We'll just have to send you PMs every single time someone asks this question in the PL forum so that you can answer them with the respect they deserve. Especially when it's a douchebag like the OP who *EDIT* is not the guy who *EDIT* needs to start a thread just to ask someone if he can pee. Heaven forbid we scare him *EDIT* or the other guy I confused him with *EDIT* off.

It's not a stupid question bro, and he's not the same guy who asked about holding his pee so I'm not sure why you made the reference. He may have just started working out for all we know, so there's no reason to be a dick about it.
