Nope. That's what the supplement companies want you to think.

Don't need that much. I usually get that much protein, but I think 75% of body-weight is more than enough.

1g/lb as stated above. Just easier to remember, probably don't need that much, but better safe then sorry.

I'd suggest 1-2 grams of protein per pound of LEAN BODY MASS not "weight" depending on your goals (cut, bulk or recomp).
Supplement a good diet: don't diet on supplements.

.7g/lb is fine for most. Cutting is the only time I go higher than 1g/lb.

This^^^ Every clinical study over the last decade or so show's the maximum benefit of protein achieved in .625-.8 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight. These tests are done in drug free athletic individuals. I can see it varying a bit based on bodyfat. Anymore will be turned to glucose. Here's a vid I did on that with some clinical studies in the description

Protein per pound of bodyweight does not have much to do with lean mass gains, overall caloric intake does. A lot of fat in your diet doesn't mean you're going to gain fat. Same goes for carbs. If you go too fat in to surplus you'll gain weight (fat).

Thank goodness somebody said it. OP what if your were eating 300g of protein a day (1200cals) but totaling 1800cals for the day. Does this add up to muscle gains? No.
