Not even necessary unless the beer is above 1.070. I always rehydrate in plain bottled water the same day as the brew. Even then, If I ever make a beer with higher gravity I will use 2 satchels. Its super cheap at 3.50 a pouch, vs 7 for White labs california ale.

im brewing at 1.065 today, so i made a starter. And i generally just make imperial/double IPA's, Stouts, Reds.

and making a starter it starts fermenting crazy right away.

You packaged them nicely. Your package was my first beer shipment and I didn't have much packaging supplies so I had to make do. Will probably copy your method next time.

My method is:
all bottles are individually bagged in ziplocs
a few layers of small bubbles bubble wrap rolled around it and taped
newspaper ads crumpled on the bottom
make a brick with the wrapped bottles in the middle
make a wall of crumpled newspaper on all sides
stuff the top til its overflowing with newspapers and you can close the box and nothing moves inside.

I've been walking into stores with a mountain of cases all week. Should be out your way beginning of next week i would think(most of my stores get monday shipments anyways)

Stopped at a brewery down the street from where i work - papago brewing: nice selection on tap and store coolers with a nice selection...had their ipa - hopago - excellent kind of a poor mans sculpin srsly...heres my haul:
The growler is filled with elsie's - their irish coffee stout...jubelale, celebration ale, narwhal, 90 minute, old rasputin...add these to the coronado brews i grabbed yesterday and my quota for paycheck is done lol...cant wait to tap (i havent had the jubelale, celebration or narwhal yet...)

One of the good things about living in Texas. Temps for the day are projected at 45-68. No need for a cooler for the beer. Outside will be cellar temperature.

Just started the night with 2005 The BEAST. Great stuff, so damn complex and easy to sip. I havent had this since the 2007 I had in 2011. Big warming on the back of the throat but by no means boozy.

AleSmith is to die for. Brought an IPA bomber home. Blind Pig and Pliny are worth the hype. Drake's 1500 was probably the beer I enjoyed the most. Nanja's in Redondo is killer. Best burger I ever had was at Slater's 50/50. Beechwood BBQ is an awesome place and will be the source of my next blog post.

Such an amazing trip.
