Have worked out that if I have x2 pots of cottage cheese (total approx 60g protein) after a workout x3 days a week works out to be cheaper than consuming whey protein.
Which do u guys think is better to have, whey or the cottage cheese? Should I think about the price or quality of protein/muscle building side of things?
I'm pretty new to the bodybuilding/protein thing by the way.

Whatever works for you. In terms of protein, they are both great sources. Personally I use protein shakes when I don't have time to sit down and have a meal. It's just convenient. I eat cottage cheese/greek yogurt before bed, for breakfast, or as a snack. I think protein powders taste better then greek yogurt/cottage cheese. I mix a some vanilla protein powder with greek yogurt to just mask the flavor.
