I see good and bad information regarding amino acid supplementation. Is is true that elevation of amino acids cause insulin resistance? I thought insulin resistance is when the body's insulin is all outta wack. Well insulin is the driver for amino acids to enter the cell right. So does the insulin spike really matter on a grand scale after supplementation of AA for someone who is trying to increase insulin sensitivity? I thought AA increase nitrogen retention when provided around the clock??? The only thing that can occur is gluconeogenesis when depleted of glucose. But if one is doing strength training with hiit, this sounds like a good thing to spare muscle tissue. Right? Not to mention the use of glucose for superior brain development. I also believe their is fatty acid gluconeogenesis. I am I on the right track?

Guys, Amino Acids are loaded in Meat. You are getting tons of Amino acids. You are over analyzing amino acids. This is what builds or preserves your muscle. You cannot avoid it. Amino Acid powders is a waste of money and you are just making your pocket lose weight.
Below on the left is the amount of amino acids in only 3 ounces of chicken breast (25 grams of protein). The numbers on the right is the amount in a typical Amino acid supplement.
Note, BCAA consist of only Isoleucine, Leucine, Valine. I bolded the amounts in 3 ounces of chicken. The BCAA powder(average price $30) is exactly the same amount as the below 3 oz chicken breast, which is half of a chicken breast and only 25 grams of Protein and in a typical Keto diet, we eat about 160 grams.
This means in one day of eating your required protein, and beef has more amino acids, Its like eating a half of tub of BCAA powder.
3 oz Chicken Breast Amino Acid Supplement
390 mg Tryptophan .55 mg
1412 mg Threonine 35 mg
1765 mg Isoleucine 24 mg
2509 mg Leucine 52 mg
2836 mg Lysine 169 mg
925 mg Methionine 9 mg
428 mg Cystine .55 mg
1328 mg Phenyalanine 37 mg
1128 mg Tyrosine 6 mg
1659 mg Valine 41 mg
2015 mg Arginine 129 mg
1037 mg Histidine 11 mg
1823 mg Alanine 160 mgLast edited by queloque; 04-23-2010 at 07:41 PM.
