Even if you dont like Phil root for the under dogs. Ramy is pushing Phil to his limits. Bonac is coming in peeled. Roelly and Nathan are stepping their game up. Its a lot of fun to watch if you follow them train all year.
I didnt like how Rhoden already said he was the new Mr Olympia like Kai did years ago. Its disrepectful. Earn the title and then you can call yourself that.
I like how Ramy is humble and he will be a good ambassador of the sport when his time comes. I give Ramy 2-3 years and its his.
Now I wonder, if Phil loses will he retire early? When Phil retires is Kai coming back? Can Kai really win with his grapefruit background?

I've always watched the Olympia because I do enjoy it. I don't go crazy following everyone though the year but I look forward to it.
Not gonna lie though I was crushed when they did away with female bb. I compete in female bb so that one hurt my heart a little bit.National Level Competitor (Female BB)

You sound like a Phil hater. You didnt want to believe me when I said Phil would win, and said I didnt know bodybuilding, which was immature. Ramys time will come, give him 2-3 year. I dont see Phil making it to 10 with Ramy pushing him like this. But you cant say Ramy won it, or Kai won it years ago when they clearly didnt. It was close, and they gave Phil a run for his money, but Phil won it fair and square.
Waiting for the politic comments now.

lordlosh sees bodybuilding as a pretty binary thing. he sees a major flaw or a major win for somebody and fixates on it but misses the overall picture
phil pros
conditioning
3d thickness
cons
gut
frame limitations
ramy pros
size
width
cons
conditioning
detail/deep separation/thickness in the backMS, Computer Science

It's very hard to judge and choose between Ramy and Phil, their body types are radically different. Phil has that 3D look because he is somewhat compressed and narrow. Because Ramy is so wide, it may be impossible for him to attain that 3D look that Phil has. Phil has a much narrower waist, but has distention. Ramy has a wider waist, but a flat stomach.
Phil is just lucky he never had to face a prime Ronnie, it would have been game over for uncle Phil...The stupidest thing a bodybuilder can ever do, is to keep trying to look like a bodybuilder when he gets older. If he does, he'll wind up with "RIP" after his name.

I think this one could have gone anyway between Phil and Ramy.
It think it will be good for Ramy to go back to the drawing board again. He is so close now. If he makes the same level of improvement, for next year, that he made this year he will take the title for sure. I am going to predict that that is exactly what will happen. I am convinced he will take the title next year.
Phil just has that polish that Ramy is currently lacking. Ramy just needs to close the gap up a little more in this area. He doesn't need to be quite as detailed because he dwarfs Phil. He just needs to close the gap a little more. My greatest concern with Ramy is keeping the waist down as he continues to improve. It is already becoming a little distracting in the FDB.Last edited by featureless; 09-16-2017 at 11:38 PM.

Also, Phil doesn't look so impressive in the most muscular anymore now that he has a good version of Ramy standing next him in the same shot. Ramy takes that weapon away from Phil's arsenal now.
In the past when Phil hit this shot it was lights out for everyone. Not now.Natural Bodybuilding - The Lonely Journey

Sorry but can`t agree.
Because of his frame, that is very narrow, Phill not only lack Width, but he also lack size - compared to Ramy. And his arms overpowering the rest of his body. That is so clear. I put you pictures in my previous post, that shows thats true.
So lack of width and lack of size go to Phill cons. Lacks of midsection also. And the midsection is crucial for how your body will look. Sorry but in Phill case it`s destroy his flow and his physique look.
GymMeathead, dude it`s obvious from a plane, that you are biased like hell and you are Phill fan.
But i can`t expect much from someone who said Jay Cutler have gut and it was worst then Phill.
Did you even know who Cutler is? And he was very big and wide and never have a gut issue ? Not even small issue ?
And to compare Ronnie midsection problem with Phill is insane. Coleman was huge and wide, and probably have 40 to 50 pounds on Heath.
I can`t agree to gift the title to a guy who is with 60 pounds lighter then Ramy and have f**** gut and zero abs in most poses.
You can say i`m Phill hater, but that`s not true. I just wanted fair judging. Last year Phill deserved the title. Ramy was not good enough there. 2014 Phill did not deserve the title, Kai was a lot better then him.
And Phill is such a loser. He accuse Luimarco that he photoshoped picture of his gut, this is just insane .... I never seen so insecure Olympia Champion ....
Cutler was such a class, and we go from Ronnie and him to Heath ...
The moment Phill is defeated, there will be life into BB.
And btw the funny thing is guy like Rhoden get penalized for their problem with midsection, and let`s be fair, atleast Rhoden abs are clearly see, and Phill is obviously not.
That is double standart. No one can`t deny this, even Philly fans.
Just watch it again, and the finals, sorry but Phill gut ruin all his physique. It`s disgusting. If they decide to give advantage to conditioning, they should give the show to Bonac, cause he was better conditioned then Phill. Phill not deserve the win, he should be third, because of that gut.
Politics ruin this "sport: ....
I agree with Lui:

Ron and Jay are my favorite bodybuilders lol. You must not have understood what I was saying. I was just comparing midsections. I understand they were bigger, and Jay didnt have a gut like Phil or Ron, but in the battle between Ron and Jay they let Ron have a gut.
To say someone doesnt know bodybuilding when I predicted the top 5 and got it right makes no sense. You say I am biased toward Phil, but how did I get rhe others correct? Cmon bro, open your eyes, Phil won this show.
I posted a video with Dave Palumbo and he said Phil was superior to Ramy in every body part. Do you think hes biased too. The judges must be biased too. The whole show must be fake.
Think about when Dex best Cutler. Was that politics back then or did Dex clearly win?
Its like the people who said Kai beat Phil one year. Clearly he didnt, but because a lot of people want "change" in bodybuilding, or say bodybuilding is dead, or say politics.
Now that the judges picked Phil to be in winner, I have nothing more to debate with you, believe what you want, but Phil is the winner. You need to open your eyes. Dont focus on Phils 1 weakness, his midsection, focus on the complete package, his condition, muscle maturity, muscle bellies, and the seperation. To say someone doesnt know bodybuilding when I've been watching over 10 years and predicted the top 5 correctly is just immature and childish on your part.
If you dont like the Olympia, or think its rigged, then dont watch it. Simple as that. And Lui is fun to watch, but dont take a computer warrior with no experience competing in bodybuilding as your official bodybuilding news updates. Go watch Rxmuscle with Dave Palumbo who has competed for years, or watch Generation Iron with Shawn Ray.
Ramy will have his time, but if you love bodybuilding you will respect the champ we have now.

My problem is Phil would not have been robbed to lose to someone else. They need to take the opportunity to give someone else the win and mix up bodybuilding. They are relying on these old timer comebacks to hype it up (Levrone, then Flex). They so badly need a reset in that division and they just don't care.

My overall impressions of the Olympia
10. Cedric-this was a fair placement, he showed up in poor shape. Not impressed
9. Josh- was conditioned and has the size but will never be a contender due to his shape
8. Brandon- robbed, should have placed 6th or so I feel. His legs are just as good as Dexter's but his upper body is better, his conditioning was on point.
7. Nathan-fair placement, still needs a bit more size, legs are improving, high lats
6. Roelly- felt like he could have placed 5th, impressive as always but his back will never allow him to be top 3
5. Shawn Rhoden- way, way off from last year.
4. Dexter-father time is slowly creeping up on him, his skin is showing subtle signs of aging, legs look slightly smaller than the last few years
3. William- peaked well but I don't get the deal with him. He just looks like a 212 guy that packed on another 10 lb or so. He has some great muscle bellies but a horrible frame, with a blocky waist and distracting tattoos.
2. Ramy- uncrowned Mr.Olympia like many others before him, he was definitely good enough to win. He was full, big and conditioned and his back looked improved
1. Phil- What can I say? Should not have won especially win a perfect score. Another 1997, 2007 controversy that will be talked for years to come. Clearly inferior to Ramy in the front lat spread, side chest, ab thigh. Side tricep is the only pose Phil clearly wins. The other 5 are close.
